" STILL SOME SHOCKING WAGES "

Tue Apr 14, 2015 12:42 pm

Just been told by a credible source

Nicky Maynard who is still at our club is on £23,000 a week basic and as you know never plays :o
City nearly got rid of him, but his wages were a stumbling block.

Don't forget Kenwyne Jones £37,500 a week basics.

I've been told Pilkington is on £18,000 basics, but not 100% sure ?

Some at Whitts is on £20,000 a week?

Not a surprise on Maynard, remember he was the big name signing in our promotion season, he was bound to be on a fair wack but at least he is out of contract in the summer.

Pilkington wages seem about right in terms of where he came from and his ability but its not considering his injuries.

Ridiculous, footballers should be played on a commission style basis.

You don't play (or go on the bench) then you don't earn. That should motivate them to play better :P

The average Championship salary is 9k per week and the average Premiership wage is now £43k per week http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... -year.html
Given those figures Whitts on £20K is about right and being as KJ has a decent premiership scoring record, his wages are about right. Pilkington, would have been on at least £15K at Norwich, so again about right, he is probably classed as an above average Championship player, when he actually is fit
Maynard is the shocker, but only because we/he got unlucky with injuries, shit happens

All pales into insignificance when you consider the "dossier men" signed us a teenage dud for £45K a week :o :o Now that is shocking

I find the fact the owner hasn't got a clue how to finance, or run a football club to be more shocking.

And on a match day he can't be bothered to be at CCS.

Saw him last week having 2 for 1 meal at the cherry laurel bridgend About 10 minutes After final whistle with Bolton.

Surely £23k you would expect him to be at the stadium for home games

You would think that the wages he is on that he would eat in better establishments than crappy 2 for 1 pub meals :o

What absolute nonsense.
How would a squad player ever look after his family or get a mortgage etc.

None there with enough quality to command even half those wages. Absurd

Re: " STILL SOME SHOCKING WAGES "

I thought Whitts would have been on more the number of new contracts he has been given.

Re: " STILL SOME SHOCKING WAGES "

Wed Apr 15, 2015 2:19 pm

we are overpaying on wages relative to where we are in the table.

the problem with overpaying wages is also that you are stuck with them if they prove to be duds or you have to pay them to make them piss off. i cringe at how much money was wasted on dross like berget, dicagoi, le fondre and the like.

thats the one silver lining from tan taking an axe to the budget. hopefully it'll mean players come here for opportunity and not for money as they have been in the past few transfer windows. though that does mean of course that you get an inferior quality of player.

And some people on here question why people do not renew season tickets ??? Half of these guys do not give a shit plain and simple !!!

[Opinion of one of us at BS1908] Pilkington's wages aren't bad at all. 18k for a player who was playing Premier League Football for a few years and is clearly talented is fine. Just needs to feature more

Fair. Maybe it should be a lower base wage with bonuses for playing then?
