" Blue Since 1908 "

Dear Cardiff City fans

We are Blue Since 1908, a fans group with one aim, which is to bring an atmosphere to Cardiff City. In the hope of bringing an atmosphere back to the Cardiff City Stadium, it may bring back fans who have felt disillusioned with the club, being part of something and enjoying yourself, which is what we all want. We are not a group of hooligans, we are not ultras, and we are just Cardiff fans like you, who just want to back the team in a positive way. We accept all ages of fans! Young or old, it doesn’t matter! Because we need to all come together as one and unite for a positive atmosphere. Two words to sum up Blue Since 1908 are Unity and Co-operation.

At the moment we have no set plans and no definitive ideas, this is because it’s early days for Blue Since 1908, this doesn’t mean we can’t go on to great things though. We aim to do things by the book, some fans are aiming to move to a part of the Ninian Stand where stewards repeatedly tell them to sit down, in some cases fans are ejected and we don’t want that. The Canton Stand is the more viable option in terms of housing fans together as a group, if fans were willing to do that then the Canton would be a more viable. Understandably, some fans will not want to move to the Canton if there was a vote for fans to move to a section together, because of wanting to be together with friends and family and that’s fine we understand that, but you can still contribute in a way, again this isn’t a definite plan and we’re just throwing something out there.

We’ll look to have our own fan displays, similar to the scarf protest but in a positive atmosphere. We’ll also look at what Watford have done this season with their displays. Personalised flags with maybe club legends on there will become a hit with the fans? We’re looking into buying t-shirts that relate to the club which maybe we can start a partnership with?

I used to mock the Palace ultras but I've changed my mind and I'm now jealous of the atmosphere they have compared to our morgue.

I don't care that much if the team is crap but I do really miss the atmosphere. Anything that anyone can do to improve it has my support.

We need to all dig in and do something positive for the club to help sweep all the shit from recent years under the carpet!

I'm sure we won't have enough fans in the ground next season to pass around a large flag like Palaces.

Something needs to be done, so well done mate for trying to get something off the ground.

I have renewed my season ticket in the Canton stand so will be more than happy to take part in ideas put forward to improving the atmosphere.

My suggestion would be to get everyone as central and to the back of the canton stand who are willing to get songs going, hopefully if we can get a group of 100 or so, who will join in every song, the surrounding fans will join in.

Also we do need to try and get some new catchy songs that can be sung consistantly through out the game.

Thank you Thomas, it'd be much appreciated! Using contacts and getting things done for cheaper but effectively could see plenty of flags being made. We could set up an account where fans donate to get flags done but have a massive part to play in choosing the design etc. The more flags the better, would really standout and make the stadium our own, covered in our merchandise! Appreciate you giving us a heads up.

It's not set in stone yet but the Canton is easily the most viable option of making an atmosphere/displays. I fully agree though, if it leads from the back then fans who aren't even aware of BS1908 will get the buzz!
In terms of new chants, once we have an idea who really wants to take part in this, we can meet up before a game or just throw ideas on the forum. Early days but I'm glad you fans are backing this rather than putting it down!

I wish you all every success. Clearly, something needs to be done The chants/songs are juvenile and lacking originality. A bit like Ali and his drivel.

People need to know who you are (put a face to what your trying to achieve, set up meetings with like minded fans etc) otherwise some might think your just stringing them along for a laugh. Good luck

I am 100% behind this idea as I also want our atmosphere to return but the key word is "OURS". Please, please do not follow what Palace do it is cringeworthy. We have plenty of songs of our own, we don't need to pretend we're Italian or Turkish by jumping up and down dry humping each other. Getting a good barmy army going for 10 minutes straight is what used to spur our players on or continuously repeating a loud Men of Harlech. Bring back OUR atmosphere, please don't copy others.

As for the displays I think they are a great idea.

That I can agree on. Even away from home we are singing the same chants, it all feels too generic at the moment

Exactly. Our atmosphere is our own atmosphere, we'll think of using old chants, current chants and some new chants that relate to Cardiff City. We don't want to go down a route of just being your typical anti-establishment kind of thing.

Keenor and Brian Clark have always been known as legends. Growing up players like Carl Dale, Leggy, Kav, Earnie and Young go down as legends in my book. Also Eddie May.

I like the idea of a retro day. Just like we had the retro shirts day but for chants - singing old songs to bring back some memories and get people singing. Man United often chant for old players and legends and I like the idea of it down the city.

I remember seeing a design last year, a blue one with keenor holding the FA Cup, with "We'll see things they'll never see" I'll try and find it! Watford have a similar flag with all their legends on, wonder how much that would cost so we could check how much we could all chip in for it

Plus we could get out the big pride of South Wales flag! Would like that to be on the top tier stand if no one's sitting there next season!

I'd like to see a free flag give away I think. If we then as fans could get a legends flag together I think it would look great. As for your other question regarding Eddie May , I was just looking at the Watford flag with Graham Taylor as the main feature with all their other legends scattered on the flag, maybe use Eddie May or Fred Keenor as our main feature, just a thought.
