" Sadly Still Not Good? "
Down the ticket office today,to buy my Ipswich away tickets
Season ticket sales are still poor and most of the staff looked bored stiff.
Have you still to buy your Season Tickets?
Can anything change your mind to buy it?
Why did over 16,000 renew for this season?
We now have Our BLUE back and a fairly Good badge
We have not been relegated,we are still a Championship club for next season.
Prices have not increased for everyone.
Even results have improved
Ive bought mine and my families in March

Most fans want a manager that:
(a) Has experience in the Championship
(b) Has led former clubs to promotion (even if only at a lower level)
(c) Implements modern football tactics
Slade fails on all 3 counts. Replacing Slade with someone that fits all of the above would give at least some down-at-heart fans a boost.

That what I do not understand everyone saying NoBlueNoRenew and we back in blue again the manager doesn't put me off we been under worst managers than slade all the years I been supporting Cardiff City football club over 40 years

I don't believe you can put poor season ticket sales down to one factor. Many things have caused this, such as the chaos experienced as a result of Tan changing to red, and eventually back to blue, the appointment of a manager that a lot of fans see as a backward step, arranging for some of our better players to be loaned out or released permanently, as well being served up some of the worst football we have seen in a long time at this club.
The problems starts at the top, and work their way down. It takes a while for a business to earn the goodwill and respect of it's customers (which according to Tan is what we are), but that can all be destroyed almost instantly if you treat your customers with contempt.

To answer your question, Annis, 16,000 renewed for this season, because we still had a chance of staying up when they first went on sale. We were not actually relegated until quite late on. All that's changed now. Championship, and a bigger ground. Tickets were like gold dust in the Premier League, next season people will be able to pay on the day. Hopefully, we will get decent walk-up crowds.
I renewed some weeks back. Strangely enough, I didn't have a ST at Ninian Park, at least in recent years. There wasn't really the need. Same as now, I suppose, just that I've got into the habit now.

Slade out = Dramatic increase in ST sales.
In my 50 years of following this club I've never known a manager so universally disliked. No matter what results are achieved between now and the end of the season, he's simply not good enough at this level.
Mon Apr 13, 2015 6:03 pm
We could get mourinho as manager and some would complain he's too Portuguese.
Too many fans looking for excuses not to renew when it really comes down to the feeling that we won't be top of the league. We've been spoilt for years and now the majority of our ST have proven they were mere glory hunters.

All fans can see is our top players being shipped out and league 1 players coming in with the promise it will continue so not really enticeing season ticket sales quite the opposite 4 of us renewed mind
Mon Apr 13, 2015 6:40 pm
I've been going since 67 but I've got to hold out for a couple of weeks to see if I'll lose 15hrs a week from work. If I do then I'm afraid I'll have to prioritise other things . Gutted otherwise I'd be renewing.

Great reply
We have moved on and purchased a villa in Greece, time for us to spend time as a family and enjoy ourselves
Certainly not what we have witnessed these past few months

I've said this before but I'll say it again. Coming up is potentially the first "nothing" season we have had since the 2007-8 season. At the end of that season, we had the FA cup final which stimulated season ticket sales, and at the end of the following season we had the move to Cardiff City Stadium. We then had successful team which made the playoffs 3 years running, followed by a trip to the Premier League. Also, there was the 5 year price freeze. All of the above have kept season ticket sales higher than might otherwise have been expected.
Someone on here said that there were around 7,000 season tickets sold for the 2007-08 season. Will we get that many next year?
I also suspect that more than half of the other Championship clubs will sell less than us too. Have you seen how many spaces there are at teams like Middlesborough, who are challenging for promotion , and Watford also seem to have a lot of space in their ground (I know they are re-building a part of it).
ts not very good for us, but I suspect its not a bad when we compare ourselves to other clubs.
Mon Apr 13, 2015 6:59 pm
I think in the main its down to finances . The prices went up this year again, for a lot of people the price is just too much .
Another point is that a lot of people cant make midweek games and this season alone weve had 8 home midweek games , if this is the case then its not worth getting a season ticket as its cheaper to pay as you go to games
Mon Apr 13, 2015 7:21 pm
From Ferndale and Blaen there are about 25 of who are long term season holders and some have decided not to renew for next season...We are split out around the ground (sticky etc in Ninian, myself, kex, guvvers etc in Canton and Micky V, Dai Nic in family) and although I have only been to a handful of games this season (due to being overseas) my season ticket normally gets used but this year I couldn't give it away for games and that has sent me a message!.....I am shocked that some stalwarts are not renewing but respect their reasons for doing so...Personally I want Tan and Slade gone but I will I'll be renewing as can't give in - but then again for most of the season I haven't been party to the shite atmosphere, crap treatment we've received and on occasion lack of effort on the park that all my friends (and every city fan has had to endure) I won't put names on but here's just a snapshot of some of the comments from those not renewing....
'Tan is stil a CNT and wont bring in a decent manager, our players will be sold and we'll struggle next year, I'm having a season of doing something else'
'I am now so fed up of Tan that it's got the better of me and I won't buy a season ticket until he's gone'
'We have been woeful all year and the Manager does not inspire the players, but thats what you get for getting us a nobody, he had the opportunity and should have been fired, I cant sit through another season and justify the expenditure on something that's not entertaining me'
Incidentally ALL will still be watching City but plan to pick their home games and do more aways...
I am sure similar debate is raging in pubs and clubs all over South Wales, seems not even the return to Blue can heal us a club at the moment...We need an owner full of commitment and who talks to the fans and lets us in on his plans, a manager who understands championship football and what's required to get us up, less apathy and doom and gloom amongst ourselves ...

What happened to dont matter what division as long as we are blue the fans are only interested in success. Cardiff only has small core of fans all. talk off big club is bollocks havent been since 50s when we hade big crowds
Mon Apr 13, 2015 7:43 pm
A lot of good & interesting replies to this question, & I think they are all valid reasons.
For me, the price is the biggest issue. £400 price freeze was fair enough, especially for Premiership football,,,but not for lower half Championship,,,& if we had been relegated, well then what?
Our club needs a wake up call regarding prices, & the whole match day experience for its loyal home fans. They could start with looking at the German football club scene, & taking a few tips on board.
If you got a 30,000 plus stadium, then you want it full, every home game. How do you achieve this?
By giving the paying public something that they all want,,,value for money, & an attractive product that makes them come back for more.

Bit of a tedious post been done to death, think some of us need a time out over the Summer no footy and be rearing to go come august
Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:01 pm
I renewed Angharad's and my season tickets at the end of March, I felt that the return to blue would see thousands renewing but sadly that has obviously not happened.
A jack once said to me 'that you lot love a demonstration!'

and to be honest he is right, at the first opportunity we are there marching, protesting and demonstrating.
If I was working for the club I would be on a marketing campaign like never before and would turn the fans previous demonstrations on its head and use slogans to fire the passion up.
Instead of ' bluebirds for life ', it should be ' time for bluebirds to unite '.
Another would be ' NOWBlue, NOWRenew '.
Help create a ' Sea of Blue ' with a season ticket.
I think the club should call out ALL of us who protested, chanted, made noises and put it back to the fans, the club should say 'we listened, now support'.
It is not a dig at anyone who created the slogans but the club should box clever in my opinion and use it to its advantage, whether it would be popular is another thing but it is an idea.
Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:10 pm
There is no incentive to renew early. I'd rather keep my money until August. For the past decade we have had to renew early in order to keep our seats, not risk missing something good happening etc etc.
Now we've witnessed cup finals, play-offs and the Premiership, and the ground has 15000 empty seats, what really is the panic?
Also, Tan has seriously pissed off a huge chunk of the support with his buffoonery. The man really is clueless. I've had a season ticket for decades but as far as I'm concerned, they can wait.
Mon Apr 13, 2015 8:18 pm
Why should I when
1 The football is shit
2 the stewarding is awful treat fan's like shit
3 Have no faith in the manager.
The whole club is rotten top to bottom and until it changes will not buy a season ticket.

Totally agree
Mon Apr 13, 2015 9:18 pm
Expectations of fans is high and the team isn't good enough to meet them hence people don't want season tickets.
Also agree with the guy who says we've had some kind of incentive every year since the cup final which has kept figures artificially high.

Football equates with passion and supporting your club, what if you do not recognize your club? What if you observe a complete , contemptuous disregard for culture, fans, history? What if you observe the deliberate destruction of all that is good? Currently Tan is running his toy into the floor , maximizing his assets and looking for an out.We the mugs who pay are merely an annoyance. He thought he would stay in the top flight because he really does not "do" failure in a business sense. Well the Burger Bar did not work out so in his mindset it has failed him.Meanwhile loyal fans turn on each other, bicker, argue and come to blows. Slade is a patsy for a man who wants to pay nothing anymore. Slade is on around £100 K !!!!! Put simply the toys are coming out of the pram.We are nothing but a sideshow. This season some of the displays have been beyond belief. Someone
said earlier the cancer is at the top, how true! Annis asks a credible question, problem is when are we going to see a credible set up?Add to this the cost of shelling out to a man who wants out; my average day out equals £75.00, compound that with players not trying these are hard times and many are struggling with bills - blind loyalty only goes so far.
Mon Apr 13, 2015 10:07 pm
there was a time , id find the money to buy a season ticket, even though i could not really afford it.. no chance of that now,, its all gone stale and boring. starting to get fed up of all the inflated prices, shit atmosphere etc etc. Just not the same anymore.. The game is awash with money but treats the fans like shite. just fallen out of love with the game in general..Maybe wales can re-ignite my passion, qualifying for a major tournament is something new, and should be good..as for cardiff city, i just dont know if i will feel the same again,,i just cant get excited about it. and i never thought id say that.
Tue Apr 14, 2015 7:43 am
Many different factors.
Tickets may sound cheap but when a lot of people earn minimum wage then £15 or £20 a ticket is not cheap especially when you add £8 on for the train etc.
People part with their hard earned cash for entertainment and we have not been getting that since our promotion year.
I'm sure fans would rather go to a pub now with their money and watch a few live games on sky whilst enjoying a few beers with mates.
The atmosphere was always a pull almost addictive at Ninian park.
I'm sure it I not Russell Slade who is keeping the fans away.
