Declan John Played As A Winger yesterday
Played on the right wing for Barnsley yesterday. Barnsley fans impressed say he looks a great threat going forward with terrific pace.
Let's hope that's where he plays from now on & shines in his natural position.
Glad to hear he's doing well. Still a Bluebird!

That is the only reason he should have been loaned....Another season long loan next season with the proviso that he is a winger/wide midfielder.

What I've read I pretty much agree with. I haven't seen anything to suggest he is anywhere near good enough.

Default today I've developed a new respect for Declan John
I'm not keen on him. Trying to work out how he made 20+ appearances in the prem for Cardiff last season

A lot of Cardiff fans give John a lot more credit and praise than he deserves.. there's no way I'd have him in the team over anyone at the moment

As far as I am concerned, he should be playing for us,as he is to good for the 3rd division.

He is one for the future maybe, Slade must have thought he needed a kick up the arse, let's hope he's learning on and off the pitch, a footballer needs to show maturity and should have good time keeping !!!!

I have to say that I have seen nothing in John to remotely indicate he is worth a left back spot in front of Malone or Fabio, that makes him 3rd choice and therefore right to go out on loan.
The simple fact is, he cannot defend.
Having said all of that, I wouldn't rule him out making it as a winger so, again, a loan to test that out is pretty good thinking. If he doesn't make it as a winger then I fear that the Championship will be too big a stretch for him.
It's a shame as I, and many others, love to see a local boy make it but if we're all honest here he's just not ready and has a pretty big year in front of him in terms of where his career will eventually end up.
I certainly don't see this as one of Slade's mistakes right now.

He needs to come back after a loan spell, have a pre-season & perhaps another loan.
Then we should take a look & assess him. From what I've seen so far he's not good enough but hopefully he can improve big time.

John got rave reviews as an academy player. Most of the positive reviews were for his attacking play. We beat Spurs to his signature.
It was Malky (I think) who converted him to a left back. Hopefully Barnsley will play him in an attacking role and Slade will realise he has a talented youngster on the books.

He needs to play as much as he can as a winger & to learn as he goes.

He has done nothing to deserve the label 'liability'.
He was 20 odd in the premier league, playing against Eden hazard. In a crap team.
I'm sure that in 2008, Spurs fans wanted shot of the 'shit' gareth bale.
Young players take time, he has all the attributes to be a great player. Who knows how good he will be?. Not us, as we are throwing away a good prospect. A Welsh lad, young and explosive.
He is on low wages is he not? So what is the actual purpose of selling up so soon?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Sell Dikawho ffs and keep john!.

Partly agree in that I wouldn't sell him yet but he certainly needs to be sent out on loan for a full season somewhere, for me no where near our first team at present.
As for the Bale comparison I don't think its alike at all, I think anyone with the smallest of brains could see Bale was top quality. John i've seen very little quality , just keep hearing about potential.
If he wasn't welsh would we be hearing this fuss? I don't think so.

Funny that.
I watched him play for 90 mins for barnsley at Colchester last Monday. I was there to watch my gransdon play for Colchester Academy side against Luton Town afterwards.
He did not set the world alight to be honest. we never saw any of his wingback play at all. he was playing as a full back as well so not in his natural position.
