Before you vote in the election

Sat Apr 11, 2015 6:38 am

To be honest I'm amazed at the results of, and discussions within the general election poll/topic further up the page.

As this doesn't sseem to be ccommon knowledge, I've listed below the areas of government that are under ccontrol of the Labour government in the bay. Before people choose the vote Labour as the tories have 'destroyed' the NHS, remember if you're in Wales it should be Carwyn and his labour colleagues that you should be blaming.

agriculture, fisheries, forestry and rural development
ancient monuments and historic buildings
culture
economic development
education and training
environment
fire and rescue services and promotion of fire safety
food
health and health services
highways and transport
housing
local government
National Assembly for Wales
public administration
social welfare
sport and recreation
tourism
town and country planning
water and flood defence
Welsh language

Similarly, a large proportion of people are suggesting they are planning to vote UKIP.

Ukip don't care about Wales. They will revise and lower the already unfair Barnett formula resulting in lower funding for Wales (so we'll have less to spend on NHS/education).

Also, like it or not Wales is hugely reliant on EU money in the form of development grants and farming subsidies. Leaving the EU would be a disaster for us. Before Christmas we were awarded another £2bn grant to develop parts of the valleys and create new jobs. How would we replace this type of support especially when ukip would cut our budget?
The answer can only be tax rises in Wales.

Owain, you are correct in what you write here...

Wales struggles to cope within the UK and simply could not be the wonderful place (Swansea apart :laughing6: ) that it is without EU support to fill the gaps that London and (latterly) the Labour-led Welsh Assembly are allowing to widen!

Each Party should be embarrassed at its own failings in Wales and it leaves a dilemma as to who to actually vote for...

Should it be Labour for more of the same let-downs despite them being "the Party of the people"?

Should it be the Conservatives, who have already vowed to cut budgets and services (outside London, of course) across the UK and have enforced the Barnett Formula on us?

Should it be Plaid Cymru, who would literally s**t themselves if ever they were allowed into office, as we have little to offer in an independent Wales other than tourism and (admittedly exceptional but nowadays limited) light industry and farming!

Note: At this point, I will praise local Plaid Councillors who, in the main, are very good in their communities but that does not transfer to the different world of national and international politics!

Should it be UKIP? More 'flawed' policies than a 'Military Junta' Election Manifesto and little or no chance of gaining anything other than a 'protest' vote!

I'll leave it to others to work out who they should vote for and keep my own intentions to myself. However, I will say that my vote will go to the person who offers to do more for his/her community rather than sitting smugly at Westminster nodding like 'Churchill the Dog' whilst their Party leaders play "Keep up with the Francois and the Jurgen's in Europe and slowly give away any rights this country (UK to) has of dictating its own policy and future!

A tough call for anyone who votes and in wales this election will be tougher than most before them!

Before you vote remember it's not going to make a difference and they are all controlled by

People would rather blame immigrants without knowing f**k all about politics and basically make a blind vote because they've been sold the typically popularity contest bullshit and been told what they want to here.

I still don't see the point of a Conservative voting in the Socialist Republic of Wales,a trained chimp,as long as it was wearing a red rosette, would get voted in

Spot on! It's not the Government who are in control.
