CARLOS COACHES TO LEEDS

Thu Apr 09, 2015 6:57 pm

As some people are obviously not aware about the ongoing situation with the Leeds game, it is best that I announce on here that the trip is absolutely cancelled and an announcement from the official club website has been expected all day but has yet not been released.

The club met with the travel group before the Bolton game and a unanimous decision was taken that the club will be boycotting the fixture due to the low number of tickets Leeds sent us.

I fully support the boycott and the reasons for doing so are simple, we as a club have worked hard to overcome issues we had and in fact have made probably the largest strides of any club to tackle its hooligan problems in the last 15 years.

If we accept a low number of tickets for no restrictions then what stops Leeds or any club doing the same in future ?

I believe we are right to demonstrate by boycotting to try and ensure that we will not lay down and accept something which is totally uneccesary.

Hopefully the club can beam the game back live to the CCS on Saturday (Cost £3, if Leeds agree), so fans can still see the game live.

This is what Leeds Utd were sent this morning by Wayne Nash :

Leeds United v Cardiff City

We have consulted with our stakeholders and held several meetings in relation to the initial request for control measures and current restriction on numbers placed upon us for our forthcoming fixture.

We have been urged by our Official Supporters groups to decline what is considered (by all) a derisory allocation and after long consideration can confirm that Cardiff City Football Club will not be selling any tickets for this fixture and will return the stock sent to us by return post.

The only tickets we will use are the players complimentary tickets, that will be used by Club Officials, Players families and close friends.

I also understand we will not be taking our allocation of Directors and Guests tickets. Mark Dennis our Club Secretary will confirm this position with your President’s Executive Assistant tomorrow.

We are obviously very disappointed and passionately believe that a true sporting environment requires 2 fervent sets of supporters getting behind their team. We are shocked that the (limiting) P&S factors have been reduced by so much in relation to reliable information relating to 30 risk fans among c100 travelling by train! The most important thing we all do is provide a safe environment for those attending and working Football Match’s, yet consider this information (sad as it is) to be routine and Manageable and understand our fans position of ‘it’s not that West Yorkshire Police cannot manage the event but that they just don’t want to’.

We understand their disappointment and collectively are not sure of the proportionality suggested due to the fact that the above intelligence profile must surely be a regular occurrence for fixtures involving Leeds United, particularly when set against Cardiff City supporters evidenced pattern of good behaviour and a reputation that has been greatly enhanced in recent times!

Hopefully much earlier engagement with all stakeholders will take place for next season fixtures, however, I can assure all Leeds United supporters that we as a Club look forward to their visit, when we will again aim to harness their passionate support by facilitating persons with legitimate intent.

Regards

Wayne Nash

Martyn, I was looking forward to taking Angharad to Elland Rd for her first visit there but why should City fans be treated as poorly as Leeds are trying after all the good work we do as a club, a travel group and a fan base ?

Thanks for your support

Fully support CCFC stance and hope they file an official complaint to the Football League,, Leeds are well out of order and are setting a practice which is against the spirit of Football. If Cardiff are able to beam the game to the CCFC stadium Id be more then happy to support the event,,,

Disgrace on Leeds United ............

Fully support the boycott! All this due to a handful of fans who they deem a risk. All clubs have fans who are 'high risk', what makes us different?

Not all football fans are criminals, and the sooner the authorities learn that, the better the experience will be at football games with over the top policing and stewarding!

I won't be going now and hope this teaches Leeds a lesson.

I also can't help feeling that my disappointment has in some way be caused by those 50 so called City fans who are labelled as 'risks'. In one way we've been outdone by a minority of so called fans that we could readily fo without.

Why on earth are you blaming our fans for this absurd situation?

I've never caused any trouble at a game I've been to and I expect that's true for the vast majority of football fans everywhere.

I completely disagree with what Leeds have done but the reason seems to be down to so called high risk fans.

For me that points to my enjoyment of following City being compromised by 50 fans who in some way have caused problems in the past.

How is that fair?

Not impressed with the final paragraph of Wayne Nash's statement.

Leeds fans should be treated in exactly the same way as we have been treated by them.

Send them vouchers for 1000 tickets only to be redeemed at some agreed meeting point or offer them 500 unrestricted tickets.

Why is this such a problem for our club? Why do they continue to bend over backwards to accomodate away fans when we are routinely treated like shit at virtually every team we travel away to?

Disappointed by the clubs stance to be honest.

Annis,

That has certainly been the case over the past few years and to me it's wrong.

If Leeds get away with it this time they will just think they can act like this without sanction whenever they like.

The club should grow some balls and stand up to these tossers and let them know that any treatment of our fans will be reciprocated for the fixture at our ground.
