Next Season (No Chance!)

Thu Apr 09, 2015 1:48 pm

Next season be honest we have no chance of promotion again under slade. Look at the quality above us and only three of these teams will get promoted, say its bournemouth norwich and watford that go up, then we are battling with these for promotion...

Derby,boro,wolves,brentford,ipswich,forest,blackburn,charlton.
Add bristol city in as teams do well when they come up.
Add say leicester, qpr, hull as teams that come down.

That is 12 very good teams to compete with in this league to go up and doing that with an ordinary manager at best in slade we have got no chance in going up and beating them teams to promotion next season, we need a quality manager at the helm to give us that chance.

Surely the "give slade a chance/he needs more time" fans must see that we are wasting our time with slade and hes better off getting sacked now and get someone in who can try and do a better job than slade?
We are fucked and doomed for mid table again under slade, i would rather get experienced manager in or even gamble on someone like ribeiro because it could be a hell of an appointment and he cant be much worse than slade if it dosent pay off so whats the point in wasting our time with slade? Opinions?
And who honestly believes slade can win us promotion next season?

Knowone gave Brentford and Bournemouth a chance this year. You never know what can happen given a transfer window to work in. I'm not saying Slade is my choice but he's worked under tight restraints and steadied the ship because let's face it, we were in free fall before his appointment. Stranger things have happened in football and it wouldn't surprise me if we make a few decent signings then we could be up there next year.

Decent signings wont get us promoted though. The best teams in this division have quality players, where are ours at the moment? We got none, all average players which gives you an average mid table team and finish. Kennedy is our most promising player who can produce that bit of quality but slade insists on leaving him on the bench even after playing very well in games.

You say about a transfer window but can you honestly see slade signing players with quality who can get us promoted because he hasent so far? Signings are decent average championship players not quality thatll get you promoted.

Not only that but his style of play and tactics still have a question mark over them and will he be good enough i dont think so personally

In his defence he's signed these players on the tightest of budgets whilst being told to slash the wage bill. I think he deserves a transfer window with the chance to buy players of his choice with a tidy budget available. Slade isn't to blame for the lack of quality, the majority of that squad was here before he even got in. Mr Solskjaer has a lot to answer for in my opinion because he sold key players in Hudson etc to replace them with expensive sub standard replacements.

Not sure what you mean by steadied the ship. We are hearing this lots from Cardiff City Supporters of late.

He's had no choice but to shed players because he was following orders but whoever thinks the consistently poor football and an ocassional scraped or lucky point is steadying the ship must be off their trolley.

Any of our support who've attended home and away games since Slade arrived will tell you that almost all the points we have came about through more than a sliver of luck. We could just as easily have been right down the bottom of this league if we hadn't been quite so fortunate in lots of our games.

We were not in free fall before Slade took over ! We had just lost to Blackppol 1-0 and had just drawn with Brighton and beaten Sheff Weds. We were in 14th spot. Where are we now? There is no doubt based on this current squad and if Skade is still in charge next season we will be in the bottom 6. Ideally we could do with a new manager but if not he needs to bring in some quality in the dome but I cannot see that. We are more likely to lose Nanga, Marshall, etc.

If Slade stays we will do well to avoid relegation next season.

Re: Next Season (No Chance!)

We were in free fall, our football was terrible. Solskjaer had completely lost the dressing room. Slade took over and we beat a Nottingham forest side playing well and beat them convincingly. Slade inherited a terrible squad , a squad assembled by Solskjaer costing millions. Now slade was told and rightly so, to trim the squad down and recoup money wasted on players. I really don't know how fans can moan when he has had his hands tied from day one. I agree performances haven't been great and at times have been dreadful, but I honestly believe we have picked up as of late and the Bolton result was a one-off. I think given a decent transfer budget, we can buy some quality and be up there next year. His signings so far haven't set the world alight but none of them have been poor in my opinion. Imagine if he was given some decent money to spend. Some of our fans are expecting Slade to walk on water and perform miracles.

The stats say it all. We were not in free fall, we are in the same position now as we were then! Slade has taken us backwards with the worse football seen for at least a decade. It has been abysmal and that's why 5K ticket holders are not turning up to the games. Yes his hands have been tied but all he is doing is bringing in League 1 freebies. This squad under Slade are likely to be bottom 6 next season.

You seem so positive but how do you explain slades shit football, and shit tactics and player selection?
Why does he keep selecting under performing players in whitts noone gunnarson and not giving anyone else a chance?
Why does he leave kennedy out our most creative player who can look to make things happen when hes been playing well?

A decent manager would have done hell of a lot better than slade has done, look at the turnaround in norwich, they had a new manager come in and their transition period was them turning into a mid table side to a top 2 side. Our transition period hasent shown any transition we are still a mediocre mid table side, slades transition bullshit chat seems to be working and having the desired effect on you fella..

Re: Next Season (No Chance!)

Ok then chaps, what would you suggest? Bring a new manager in? Who is out there at the moment who can sort the team out? We need a period of stability. That's all we've done in the last few years is chop and change management. Our most successful period in recent history was under Dave Jones when he was given time to build a squad and compete over a few years. It's a similar scenario now by working to a budget. I'd like to give Slade more time and I feel he's deserved a transfer window at least. In response to a pervious poster's comments about the drop in attendence, that's purely down to fickleness. When we were poor we were averaging 3-4,000. A lot of season ticket renewals were purely based on us returning to the premier league, that's failed to materialise so they have gone back to their other clubs or hobbies. Simple as that.

Comparing us to Norwich? They have had to do no cost cutting what so ever. They lost Snodgrass to Hull and that's it. Even Van Wolfswinkel is out on loan. On paper, they are arguably the best side in the league, they have strengthened by adding Jerome, Cuellar, Dorrans etc. They are being run totally different to us,even Slade could win the league with that squad. Im just a realist who sees that we need to be run properly, not running up silly debt and potentially losing everything if Tan walks out. Yes we are a mediocre championship side and I'd prefer that to being in administration in league 2. I'd still be there no matter what.

Re: Next Season (No Chance!)

Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:28 pm

I have said many times that I think Slade is out of his depth at this level. In his defence, he is going to have to work with very little money next season. He has said that he has his targets for next season, and a little money is available for one or two players. It sounds as if what I said here a few weeks back is true, we will be concentrating mainly on free transfers with maybe a couple of cheap purchases, probably from the lower leagues. If he can get the club in the top 15 next season he will have done well. I think if we avoid relegation he can say he's done his job, but I honestly think we will have a major battle to survive at this level for another season.

This squad? Mmmm so we wont be buying anyone in sumer? :laughing5: slades taken us nowhere as he as lost several top players ! We are where we are and considering whats gone on that is not bad! Football maybe substandard but hardly surprising!

Some fans defeatist attitude shocks me. Yes we are fucked under slade.
Yes we might not be spending loads of money no more but that dosent mean we cant succeed, money isnt everything!

Look at bournemouth swansea two great examples of clubs who have done very well with no money, but the reason they done well is that they employed very good managers!

Slade isnt a good manager and money isnt everything we just need the right manager at the club to take us forward!

Re: Next Season (No Chance!)

Fri Apr 10, 2015 11:31 pm

He's not everyone's cup of tea is Slade not ideally my choice of manager

I still say let him finish the job he's started clear out the rest of the overpaid lazy garbage bring in some of his own and see what happens

Let him have a full pre season with a squad that will hopefully be assembled early doors to give us a good foundation and see what he can do

We were just as shit under solskjaer who tore this club apart in just over half a season with no sign of improvement even after bringing in large amounts of players

Let slade continue to offload and see what happens

It could be worse wolves went down twice in a row with a better squad than we had and took time to climb back out of league 1 I'd rather rebuild in this league and go again

Comparing us to bournemouth is ludicrous as well Eddie Howe is a fantastic young manager but it's taken him a few seasons to establish that side without having to sell may players either

We are gonna get torn apart sales wise again in the summer and that's gonna effect the morale of the squad again

If take top 10 next season no problem and push on again front there

It's amazing all the so called experts on here saying Slade is no good makes me cringe
give him at least 12 months
