" Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan ready to back Russell Slade in summer transfer market "

Slade is set to travel to Kuala Lumpur for a meeting with the Cardiff owner when the pair will plot next season's campaign

By Terry Phillips

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan is ready to back manager Russell Slade’s plans to strengthen his squad this summer.

The two men are set to hold talks at end of this season in Kuala Lumpur to make plans for the 2015-16 Championship campaign.

Slade has been given assurances he will be in charge next season despite continued frustration among fans over his team’s results and style of play.

And he will be allowed to bring in more new players despite the deep cost-cutting that has defined his six-month reign so far.

A host of Bluebirds stars have left the club since Slade’s appointment after Tan ordered the new boss to reduce the staggering £28m wage bill by £12m.

That meant a restriction on Slade’s January dealings that has seen him add seven first-team players to the City squad for a mere £300,000.

Those restrictions are now set to be eased, with Slade insisting money will be spent.

“The parameters will be greater than they were in January and there is still work to be done,” said Slade.

“We have our targets and the owner (Tan) and chief executive (Ken Choo) are aware of those.

“We are working on bringing in players and one or two of those will cost us a little bit of money.”

The club were forced to publicly back Slade earlier this week after rumours emerged from Portugal that Vitoria Setubal manager Bruno Ribeiro is being lined up as a replacement.

The departures of the likes of Kenwyne Jones, Adam Le fondre (both loans) and Mats Daehli have left Slade with a lack of attacking options, something he is keen to address.

“The departures of people like Kenwyne and Matt Connolly on loan were based on financial reasons. If we had been in the top six or bottom six it would have been a different story.

“But we are mid-table and had the chance to bring in resources before the end of this season which could help going forward.

“Both deals make financial sense.”

Bournemouth paid a hefty loan fee for Jones and there is a further amount due if they are promoted. The Cherries are also paying all of Jones’ wages.

Even if Slade is given money we are likely to end up with League 1 or League 2 freebies. What decent players would want to come to Cardiff, that is the question?

Yet again Tan proves that when it comes to footballing matters he has not got a clue.

Maangers are people who lead by example, setting a precedent of confidence, desire, fire, passion, direction, belief, experience, encouragement, determination and balls to stand up for what they beleive and want to be a success, (like appointing your own backroom staff) This should be the foundation and structure for his team and filter through on Match day.

Our players are dissalusioned, lacking in confidence, clueless on the ball, lack desire, heads down, complain about archaic training methods and simply dont play for the shirt and give up.

Russell Slade instills none of the above attributes required of a manager to succeed in the championship at even a competitive level. The board, the fans, the players, the catering staff, the stewards should all be working together with a unified goal. The board have no idea of what football is to the people and what it means, the players dont know if they will be here one week to the next salary depending, the stewards are instructed to ensure we cant stand, look at away fans or get to emotional.

We are rotten from the core and until we instill a Manager who "Manages" the Club we ill continue to lose our fan base, beleief and progress.

I personally feel pretty heartbroken my club has detriorated in this fashion and pray Slade is not here next season.

Exactly, people don't care about Tan or Slade all they care about is what wage they get paid.

Nukes haven't you been one who wants us self sustainable? You were one who wanted the blue back too. The price of both of these is not buying players we can't afford especially with such poor season ticket sales.

Besides Doyle was 750k and o'Keefe 800k weren't they?

I do but Slade is not the man to take us forward.
