Kagisho Dikgacoi and Anthony Pilkington are playing for the Development team at Sheffield United today and Scott Young is going to watch them.

Ben Turner will play in the game at Colchester on Monday.

Pilkington is the closest to first team football, looking at Tuesday and onwards.

All players are in my plans for next season other than a few who are out of contract.

What happens with Kenwyne Jones and Matt Connolly next season?
They are contracted to this club and a decision would have to be made that suited all parties if that was to change.

Connor McAleny and Ben Turner could come back into the squad after injury.

It is 16 matches and 31 years since Leeds beat Cardiff City in any competition and this weekend provides another opportunity for Leeds to end the curse.

Elland Road

Club: Leeds United FC
Opening: 1897
Capacity: 39,460 seats

History and description

Elland Road opened in 1897, however in the first years of its existence it was only used for rugby matches. In 1904 newly formed football club Leeds City moved into the ground, and in the following years the stadium got gradually expanded.

After in 1919 Leeds City got expelled from the Football League, the stadium was sold for a sum of £250 to newly formed Leeds United. Further renovations were made shortly after, but few changes were made in the decades following.

In 1956, a fire burned down the West Stand, and a new stand had to be built. With the successes of Leeds United in the 1960s and early 70s further renovations were made.

Elland Road achieved its record attendance in 1967 during an FA Cup match with Sunderland. A total of 57,892 supporters watched the game from the stands.

In the early 1990s, the club started a redevelopment program for the ground, which most notably included the rebuilding of the East Stand in 1993. At completion, the stand counted as the biggest cantilever stand in the world.

Elland Road was one of the playing venues of the Euro 1996 Championships, during which it hosted three group matches.

In the early 2000s, Leeds investigated a move to a brand new 55,000-stadium, however these plans were shelved after the club’s finances severely deteriorated. Only smaller renovations have been made to the stadium since.

Leeds United: No away fans at Elland Road on Saturday as Cardiff reject ticket allocation

Yorkshire Post

Thurs 09 April 2015

Cardiff City will have no supporters at Saturday’s clash with Leeds United after returning an allocation of 500 tickets in a dispute over travel restrictions.

In a statement released tonight, Cardiff said they had asked for 2,000 tickets from Leeds - all allowing unrestricted travel to Yorkshire - but were limited to a quarter of that amount.

The Welsh club have rejected the offer, a decision which will leave Elland Road devoid of away fans this weekend.

Cardiff, who have regularly faced travel restrictions to Leeds in the past, brought a crowd of 446 when they last played at Elland Road in February 2013.

The club’s chief executive, Ken Choo, backed the boycott, saying: “Our preference was for Cardiff City fans to be granted the same respect and freedom of travel as provided to over 2,000 Leeds supporters for the corresponding fixture this season, and we are frustrated that this could not be permitted.

“As is the case at Cardiff City Stadium, supporter safety should always be the priority. With the intelligence and information available however, we consider the event to be routine and manageable and that the travel and ticket restrictions in place are substantially out of proportion to any perceived risk.

“As stated by our supporter groups, we also believe that West Yorkshire Police could manage the event without issue or restrictions, if they chose to do so.”

Cardiff also claimed that Leeds had rejected their request for a beamback of Saturday’s game to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Neither Leeds nor West Yorkshire Police have commented on Cardiff’s statement.
