The strange case of Craig Noone

Mon Apr 06, 2015 5:36 pm

What has happened to this player?

In just over a year he's gone from running Man City ragged at the Etihad to being incapable of dribbling, passing, heading, crossing and seems to have lost at least a yard of pace and all of his confidence.

If he'd stood off the pitch during the game he could not have made less of a contribution.

However, along with Whittingham and Gunnarsson seems to be one of Slade's "undroppables", someone who will always be selected no matter how badly they are performing.

All playing in a system/roles that doesn't suit them.

Malky rarely trusted Noone in a 442 or its variant. Wingers playing on the wrong wing to cut inside usually play in a 433 or 4231, but Slade is a maverick :(

We need to remember malky only played 1 up front with Whitts floating in the middle, this gave the 2 wide players if they were attacking a bit of freedom.

442 is a sound if not old fashioned and easily exposed system but you need Chris Burke style wingers and 2 monsters in the middle, Whitts isn't that type.

We are a mess

While I agree the system haven't been right, for once :notworthy: David's is right, nooney has driven me nuts all season and has not just had a shocker but the biggest decline since jay bothroyd had his England cap. The fact he puts a shift in has kept the boo boys off his back but end product when he does eventually beat a man is awful, wrong decisions. Players have bad form but a whole season? Really disappointed.

What a transformation in a player. Hailed on motd for tearing the man City team apart to barely putting a foot right. Him and his very average missus got carried away

I love Nooney but he's been playing f*cking dreadful lately, at this rate I really wouldn't care if he was sold
