" HAS ANYONE NOTICED CITY? "

Has anyone noticed City are undefeated in their last 4 League games :thumbright:
Plus only 2 defeats from our last 12 League games :thumbright: :thumbright:
We are on a run

Sat 14/03/15 CHA Brentford 1 - 2 Cardiff City
Tue 17/03/15 CHA Cardiff City 1 - 1 Bournemouth
Sat 21/03/15 CHA Cardiff City 2 - 0 Birmingham City
Sat 04/04/15 CHA Reading 1 - 1 Cardiff City

My main worry is that the football is still dire and I am still not hopeful under him for next season, but the facts are there,we have improved results under him.

It is a results game and that's what matters at the end of the day.

We were awful yesterday Annis. Totally clueless until last minute. Slade just stood there with arms folded pretending to be Dave Jones. Trollope was not allowed in technical area by looks of things.

Yesterday's tactics were pass across the back and then play a floated ball up to Doyle who can't hold the ball up. Slade is utterly clueless and merely a puppet for vinny

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

The biggest difference over these last 12 games, when compared to the 12 games before, is that we have conceded less than a goal a game whilst in the previous 12 games it was nearly 2 goals a game. In fairness to RS he, and his backroom team, have got us organised and with that we have managed to close the backdoor which has given us a platform to go on this run. Despite conceding fewer goals we have managed to maintain a reasonable scoring level, given our mid table position, and although the football is not inspiring is it what we needed to happen to stop us being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

If we had managed to maintain our current defensive performance over the 40 games we have played so far this season we would have the best defensive record in the league and who knows where we would be.

Let's hope the team cam maintain this improvement and win our last 3 home games and maybe get a result at Leeds and who knows we may get a top 10 finish.

I want a manager that promotes good football Annis  the owner of the club should want that too, but he hasn't got a clue what good football is, only interested in figures £££££££££££

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

Yes its better. I thought we were going down too, just the dire football to sort out now.

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

If you are wedded to playing the long ball game as Slade is,it doesn't really matter what new players you bring in,the football will remain dire

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:52 am

We got promoted playing dire football and I don't remember too many complaints. It's all about sticking the ball in the net and winning games, simples

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:57 am

We had 2 and a half years of dull but effective football under Malky Mackay which got us to the Premier League. Success is the only entertainment we need.

For what it's worth, I think Russell Slade can get us promoted, even next season. However, I can't see him being able to keep us there. Brentford already have seen the realities of this by announcing several weeks ago that even if they get promoted Warburton won't be manager next year.

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

Let's not forget that January we've had Manga back who in honesty shouldn't be playing at Championship level. I will be delighted if he starts for us in August as he gives us a solid basis to work from and hence if we dont give other teams a 3-0 head start we have a chance of winning games.

Credit where credit is due our stats show we are a solid mid table team, which is a plus from a few months ago when we were heading for relegation free fall!

The issue is that no City fans want us to be a solid mid table team, can Slade push us forward?

I honestly dont know, in fairness to him he's stopped the rot cleared out a very heavy squad and is trying to bring down the wage bill. Yes I agree the football in not that exciting to watch, however can anyone say the football was the much different under Malky! take away the 1-0 wins we used to get and we were still and average Championship team.

I would give Slade until Christmas and if we are in the playoff pack then that's positive progress.

My one glimmer of hope that tactics will change under Slade, is that he was not known for route one football at Orient, so I'm hoping that he has addopted this approach, as the players he has at his disposal are limited. Maybe, when he gets to bring in his targets over the summer, then we may get more creation from midfield. To his credit, we have tightened up defensively. Yesterday's game for instance, bar one mistake that gave them their goal, Reading never really threatened our goal.

Interesting.

Next Season it is my belief that if we were averaging enough points from awful clueless games, as you say, to be in the top six. We would have larger crowds than if we were playing attractive football and losing every week.

Trollope went into the technical area on at least a couple of occasions I witnessed and became quite animated whilst there, towards the latter part of the match!

The problem with the statement you made, is that many of our supporters will believe it to be fact, merely because it was mentioned on here!

I assume you're forgetting that Slade didn't start the season with us, so we've no idea how we'd have ended up had he started the season with his own players, or own type of players in the squad and is there any other team in the league that has had to carry out the size of savage cost cutting exercise, he has had to do, whilst trying to keep a huge quantity of players happy?

Re: " Has anyone noticed City? "

Sun Apr 05, 2015 12:14 pm

I was there yesterday and it was terrible and talking to other fans on the bus they felt the same way. I know it's a results driven business but it is an entertainment business aswell and all that result did was paper over the cracks and endorses Slade's style of play. How in hell was Doyle suppose to compete against Reading's centre halves who Jones would have struggled against, and it made Doyle look totally out of the depth. A lot of fans are undecided as to whether Doyle is up to championship standard but Slade did him no favours yesterday and that game must have knocked his confidence. Why did Slade bring Malone on? was Peltier injured? because why did we replace one fullback for another when we were a goal down,it madeno sense to me.
