Reading stand in their way with a lot of confidence after reaching the FA Cup Semi-Final with an impressive victory over Bradford. Steve Clarke's side are not having the best of times in the league however, with only one win in their last six games.
Cardiff may be looking at yet another strike partnership this season, Eoin Doyle could be partnered by the likes of Joe Mason, or Connor McAllen, after Kenwyne Jones was loaned to promotion hopefuls Bournemouth on the loan deadline day. Reading also did some business on deadline day, with Nathan Aké and Kwesi Appiah from Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively.
In terms of clashes between the two sides, Reading won the last encounter at The CCS in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup. Maybe getting revenge after Cardiff's 2-1 win earlier on in the season, a game in which saw Alex Pearce dismissed.
Cardiff have the same injury news as in recent weeks, with Alex Revell, Kiko Macheda and Anthony Pilkington still missing. Ben Turner is also still a doubt as is Kagisho Dikgacoi.
As for Reading, Danny Williams is suspended following his red card away at Charlton, and Simon Cox, who picked up a knock in mid-week training.
