No GB football team for Olympics!

The FA have dropped plans to support GB mens and womens football teams for the Rio Olympics due to lack of support from the other home unions.

Glad there's no more 'Team GB', but can't be bothered to discuss. Was covered extensively last time.

Pity I quite liked it last time. Qualification process would be a nightmare logistically however.

Probably should just create a team GB and get it over with the best from the nations could do some damage on the international level.

There are a lot on the Fifa excecutive committee who would love there to be a team GB. GB's 3 votes then turn to 1. Would Northern ireland merge into an Ireland team ?

Daft idea. Fifa don't want to the Olympics to be as important as the world cup....Its all about money.

Iam not sure the FA would want to travel to Cardiff or Glasgow to play and lose revenue from Wembley

Just looking for bites really, I couldn't give less of a shit about international football it's boring. A team go would fair better than the sum of its parts though.

As long as there is a threat to our independence as a football nation, then the FAW are quite right in maintaining their opposition to such a concept.

The FAW are also stuck in the past and whilst I wouldn't want a combined GB team for European or World Cup competitions, as long as we get the same guarantees we received for the London Olympics, then I can't see a problem!
