CARDIFF CITY'S HIGHEST PAID PLAYER TO BOURNEMOUTH ON LOAN

CHERRIES are understood to be on the verge of completing a beat-the-loan-deadline move for former Southampton, Sunderland and Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones.

Jones is believed to be poised to join Cherries from Championship rivals Cardiff City and will remain at Dean Court until the end of the season.

..........................

Edit by Gavin - Wales online article below:

Jones is the Bluebirds' top scorer with 13 goals this season and Eddie Howe's Cherries sit top of the Championship

Cardiff City top-scorer Kenwyne Jones is set to leave the club to go on loan to high-flying Championship side Bournemouth for the remainder of the season, according to reports.

The 30-year-old has hit 13 goals so far this campaign for Russell Slade’s side and played the full 90 minutes in the Bluebirds last outing, a 2-0 home win over Birmingham last weekend.

The Trinidad & Tobago international joined the Bluebirds from Stoke in January 2014 in a deal which saw Peter Odemwingie move in the opposite direction. In total he has made 47 appearances for the Bluebirds and scored 14 goals in the process.

Slade has found himself presiding over severe cost-cutting at Cardiff and Jones would be the latest high-profile player to leave following Matthew Connolly’s move out on loan to Watford last week.

The deadline for emergency loans is at 5pm on Thursday and any deal would be subject to international clearance.

Sammy AFCB says…
Russell Slade brought in to help reduce wage bill. Eddie supposedly happy to pay 80% of his wages. Cardiff have many strikers on the books. Yann struggling for fitness. Makes perfect sense. He'll be a great addition in the air with the chances we create.

With nothing left to play for, and his contract up, understand why club would want his huge wages off the books. However, with Revel and Macheda injured, and Garcia and Le Fondre on loan, we are now very light up top. What a total shambles of a season this has been!

Also help Bmth to stop conceding from corners and free-kicks, their Achilles heal, smart move by Howe if true ;) People forget Jones is very good defending crosses

If we can get him off the wage bill then great, give the younsters a go until the end of the season, people like Doyle, Healy need to be getting game time.

Positive move now will have to play Doyle/macheda ect

It doesn't entice people to attend games when we are selling the assets

Why not be positive? It gives someone who is staying at club a chance!

Does he need a lift?

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

I think it's a good time to bid farewell to Kenwyn, his has contributed well this season but isn't what we need going forward and certainly not what we can afford going forward. Look forward to seeing Macheda, Mason, Doyle and Revell fight for spots.

Nukes is not going to like this :laughing6: anyway they are welcome to the lazy bugger as you say we need to save those wages. :thumbright:

He certainly doesn't or has he ever delivered £40000 a week worth of goals, the sooner his wages or part there of is being paid by someone else the better.

Listen, I'm not saying he has not made a contribution his goal stats prove the opposite of that, but I wonder if we would have been more effective up front without our midfield having the option to lump is forward to KJ all season ?

I guess he will never know, all the best to him at Bournemouth if this is true, certainly worse parts of the country to reside in.

I am being positive in that it gets his wages off the books but it's bloody depressing seeing our first team players loaned out as by March we have nothing left to play for! I personally think Kenwyne will be a loss in defence and attack for us.

He wins headers in both boxes

I would take him over any of the other so called strikers

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

Thu Mar 26, 2015 1:59 pm

I said this would happen last week.

For me it was obviously in the planning over 2 weeks ago. It showed in his total disinterest in playing for Cardiff. We can see now why Cardiff took back Healey from his loan spell.

More annoyingly it shows me what a gutless, dishonest git Jones is. We all saw him walking from the half way line when Cardiff were breaking in our last home games. He knew he was going and couldn't give a damn.

He should either have tried his best or opted out altogether.

I never though he deserved his place anyway and now I'm totally convinced we're much better off without him.

We could save nearly 500k which would come in very useful come the summer

He's off in the summer and were safe. Rather get Doyle game time to see if he's up to being our main striker next season.

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

Thu Mar 26, 2015 2:09 pm

With what we save on his wages during this loan deal we can pay a young player 5k a week for the whole of next year ffs ,and jones contract up in summer anyway so it's not like he was going to be with us next year anyway time to say thanks and move on :bluescarf:

Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhh boy!!!!!

Best news since the return to blue.

his apathy has destroyed me the last few weeks.

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

Thu Mar 26, 2015 2:17 pm

i dont see what the big deal is really, i think its a great move getting rid of connelly and jones. saves us well over 500k in wages, gives us chance to blood some youth, plus neither are in long term plans so why keep them?

american sports teams do this every season, if they dont make the playoffs the trade and sell assets and get in youth players. thats exactly what we are doing, and to be fair we are doing it very well from a financial side

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

Thu Mar 26, 2015 2:20 pm

Good time for him to move on

Re: "Jones to Bournemouth"

Thu Mar 26, 2015 2:21 pm

Not his biggest fan, but he is our top scorer. Personally I'd like to see 4 4 1 1, with Doyle up top and McAleny or Mason deeper. This does send out the wrong signals though: indicating a severe lack of ambition. Maybe we'll sign a young Arsenal striker on loan before the deadline.

Youth players.

we aint goin up we aint goin down. The cover Jones could provide is not worth half a mil.

It's a quarter of a million
And he's still not worth keeping
As we have nothing to play for
Time to give the youth some experience
Which is what loads on here have been shouting for annis included :bluescarf:

exaclty. we have 7 games left and safely mid table. Doesnt make sense to keep him "just incase"
