' Jeremy Clarkson sacked '
Jeremy Clarkson's contract will not be renewed after a physical altercation with a producer, the BBC's director general Tony Hall has said.
Lord Hall said he had "not taken this decision lightly" and recognised it would "divide opinion".
However, he added "a line has been crossed" and he "cannot condone what has happened on this occasion".

End of an era
Can see May and Hammond not renewing their contracts and then the 3 of them doing something similar on Sky or C5

a commercial TV station would have looked at how valuable he is as the face of top gear, and given him a slap on the wrists. because its the BBC people get into a witch hunt and the professional complainers get their way.
he will at least double his salary elsewhere. the BBC will now take a massive hit in funding (tens of millions) because it makes so much from top gear, which will wither away into nothing without the previous 3 presenters.

He will pop up like a cork somewhere...Sky ? As for his fans fair enough however where can any of us tw*t a work colleague in the face after a verbal tirade and expect to keep our job???? Can anyone enlighten me ?

They had no choice in my view. They would have set a unlawful precedent which would have been indefensible.

I know its popular but jesus christ, the amount air time on rolling news it is getting is ridiculous.
Top Gear is an okay programme to waste time on a sunday night.
I would never go out of my way to watch it. It is an okay entertainment show.

A Top Gear-style programme on Sky TV or Channel 5 (as well as a hair appearance on the BBC's "Have I Got News For You") is already mooted and it will be a sure-fire hit!
No one can condone what Clarkson did, but he is a proven success in his field and will be back!
Personally, I like the guy and his off-the-wall style, but (unlike some) I don't take him or his barbed wit too seriously!
Sure to be in demand!

I've been a fan of Top Gear, but I think it was getting a bit stale anyway. Car racing against a jet fighter, car racing against a helicopter, car racing against a speed boat, car racing against a jet ski - they were running out of things that a car could race against, and running out of countries that they could drive an old banger across from West to East. They kept churning the same old stuff out every week.

He will end up on sky in my opinion with a new show.

i'm not a presenter of one of the worlds most popular TV shows, unfortunately.
if luis suarez punched a barcelona player in training would he get sacked? of course not. my point is on a commercial station they would weigh up the pros and cons and in my opinion, conclude that it would be counter productive to sack him.

It's not the cars I have a problem with, it's just JC's condescending, monotonous, egocentric & arrogant tone that I find irritating.

Good, & I sincerely hope they do Annis,,,after all, look how much money the BBC has thrown away to executive golden handshakes recently, & over the years, not to mention all the scandals regarding other former employees.
The Corporation is rotten to the core, just remind them who pays for them?

He probably thought he was too important to get the sack. Not bad timing for him though, with the election coming up he can get back to campaigning for his fellow pompous tw@'s Cameron and Boris.

The BBC list of exceptable behaviour
1/ Being a Peadophile TV is definitely exceptable
2/ The above is definitely exceptable if the top brass producers can have some as well.
3/ Covering up the above two is standard in the BBC for many decades
4/ Silelence on the above three is a must
5/ Left wing nutters like Russell Brand must be treated like royalty.
The BBC not exceptable behaviour
1/ Complaining over food
2/ To have different opinions to the top brass political agenda
3/ To like to have sex with anyone over the age of 16
4/ To have consenting sex with consenting adults
