Eoin Doyle would most likely not have featured at all if Federico Macheda had not injured himself in the warm-up and then Alex Revell pulled up just before half-time.

Football can be about little moments of good fortune and Doyle certainly seized his here. He finished well to open his Bluebirds account after a frustrating start to his career in South Wales.

He then won the penalty too.

He clearly has something about him and hopefully this will set him on his way.

He is still top-scorer in League One, with 21 strikes for former club Chesterfield.

:ayatollah: Other promising sights :ayatollah:

If Doyle’s arrival off the bench changed things so did that of Matthew Kennedy, who came on at half-time in place of Aron Gunnarsson.

The former Everton-man really gave the Bluebirds the energy they needed.

They started to get forward at more speed and in greater numbers and it was Kennedy who sparked that.

The other big bonus for Slade and the Bluebirds now is Joe Ralls. He started and was easily Cardiff’s best player. The beating heart of the Cardiff side. This is a watershed season for Ralls who looks a very exciting talent.

Ralls is a fantastic talent. Numbskull needs to pay him more respect. A midfield of him, Gunnar, Adeyemi and Kennedy would be exhilarating snd exciting Sladey, how about it and get rid of the dead wood!
