Cardiff assistant manager Scott Young hailed the impact of striker Eoin Doyle after he stepped off the bench to help the Bluebirds sink Birmingham.
Doyle scored his first goal for the club just after half-time before winning a penalty that Peter Whittingham converted with 15 minutes to go to put the game beyond the reach of the Blues.
It ended a run, stretching back to January 10, of seven home games without a win for the Bluebirds in all competitions.
Bluebirds assistant boss Young said: "Since the New Year we've been in good positions in a few home games but not quite got over the line so it's very pleasing to get the win.
"I thought Eoin and Matthew Kennedy changed the game for us when they came on. "Eoin has been very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet since coming to the club in January but we have always known he has plenty of quality. "He made a real impact and it's nice to see him get the goal his performance deserved.
"As a side we are showing a lot more resilience and to get another clean sheet is very good. "The whole team is working hard and we want to finish as high up the league as possible."

Doyle was excellent today. Awesome workrate and great movement
Would love to see him and Revell play together to see if it works.
Jones doesn't link with him at all

Slade had Doyle as 4th choice striker today and was basically forced to put him on due to injuries.
I'm hoping slade gives him a chance now.

Can't disagree, good touches, scored and drew the guy for the pen

Seems the obvious choice to most
Slades signings but he can't see it.

Simple, he should be playing every game. He is the only striker with that extra pace. Should play alongside a target man.

I wouldn't say he had pace, looked awfully slow to me. A nack of finding space thought.

Good first touch, works hard, doesn't have blistering pace but makes it up with his runs and finding space!
Like the look of the guy, don't know why he don't start!

I think he could work well off macheda. Said that the other week on a thread

I think slades signings will come in next season
I think the rest are up for sale hence why he playing them
I expect most the team to go!

Mason Doyle would be my choice with macheda any 2 of those 3 for next season

I hope macheda is gone 2bh
He's just as lazy as jones
I want energetic players
And people who look like they want to play for us !

I remember ranting to few of lads during transfer window that championship team needed to take a pint on Eoin doyle. Player I've rated for a long time seen him play for Sligo rovers in Irish league and thought he could make it in England. His first touch always impressed me as much as his workrate. And the lad can finish. Thought he was the main reason we won today. So happy to be over to see his first goal as a bluebird. Stated on here already I'm backing him to be next seasons championship top goalcorer. Love to see him up front with joe mason. Think could be formidable partnership.

I hope so
Hasn't really been given the chance
I'm sure he's in slades plans for next year
Long as I don't have to watch macheda or jones next year Ill be happy

Doyle has brilliant touch and creativity for this level. Glad he scored today too! He should be first choice! Even previously he's battled well and created a lot. Now he has his first goal he should go on a run and show us what he's made of. He's the signing I was most excited about and to me, so far, he's shown exactly why!

His touch was outstanding today and he's more pace and energy than any of our strikers, hope he gets a run in the team now and builds on the performance from today
