I have to say that was the best City have played under Russell Slade

Fabio and Manga outstanding

Mediocre Birmingham team.

Clean sheet for City

Cardiff City 2 Birmingham City 0

Crowd 20,602 incl nearly 1,500 Brum fans.

Cardiff City : Marshall, Fabio, Malone, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Ralls, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Noone, Revell, Jones.

Subs: Moore, Gabbidon, Adeyemi, Kennedy, O’Keefe, Doyle,

City went in to this game knowing that anything less than a win would give us our worst record at home for 25 years, whilst Birmingham had virtually secured any relegation doubts.

From the start City played attacking football and for the first 20 mins, both teams attacked each others end.
Not pretty football the first-half, but City players running for it and closing Birmingham down

Alex Revell limped off in the 44th minute to be replaced by Doyle.
Did not look good for Revell.

The rest of the first-half was quite stale and the score-line suited the 0-0 scoreline after 45 minutes.

In the 50th minute Manga stopped a Birmingham attack and with in seconds, City had then taken a 1 nil lead thanks to Doyles first ever goal for City


In the 68th minute Kenwyne Jones missed a sitter by kicking the ball over the bar,to be honest Jones missed a couple of good chances today

City dominated the second-half, with Doyle being brought down in the Brum penalty are, for then Whittingham to slot home the penalty with ease, 2-0 City

This today was by far City's best home display under Russell Slade and we fully deserved the victory, in fact we could of won 4 nil

We must not sell Manga and Fabio,they are City's main players and were once again the difference

Revell, it did not look good.

Good win Birmingham were negative and we took full advantage in the 2nd half and the subs made the difference and should of scored more well done Slade and the boys.

Marshall, Fabio and Bruno make up probably the best defence in the Championship when they play like they did today, although Brum didn't really test the keeper. Just hope Slade knows enough to be able to build the rest of the team on them. We need to be able to bend Tans ear about holding on to them if he's at all interested in any kind of success next season.

Crowd was good today, slightly more than Tuesday and more vocal but then we had more to shout about! The fans will slowly start coming back and the momentum will start building again. Tuesday was my first game down there since we turned Chelsea over in the 1986 League Cup and I'm getting a season ticket for next season.

If you want someone to run around like a headless chicken then get a marathon runner out there who will do it better.

not sure why Doyle is 4th choice, looks like he will get goals.

In my opinion Fabio was very lucky and his defending is poor. He's constantly front on, and if he was playing against a good winger he would've been destroyed.

I said we would win and we did, been saying we have been improving since Blackburn but some can't see it. Not getting carried away but if you have a defence like that you will win football matches

Fabio should not be dropped after that performance, we know he can get forward but today defensively superb and composed. Maybe he's been working on that side of his game

To be honest I thought the first half was probably on a par with the worst we have played this season .
We were lethargic and had no idea how to break down a very poor brum team .
I was as nearly tempted to leave half time in all fairness I was so bored .
Second half was better but any decent team would have put us to the sword today .

We won because birmingham were so poor not because we were good or even improving !

We shouldn't paper over the cracks we were a poor championship team today , kenwyn Jones was woeful apart from his link up play , I'm a fan of noone but he needs to be dropped , Malone and Morrison were awful and if it wasn't for fabio and manga we may well have drawn or even lost this game .

Not blaming anybody it's just the way it is this season . We are lucky there are so many poor teams this year otherwise we would be in trouble .

Not long got home. Very pleased with today's win, and the performance. Fabio MOTM. Kennedy did well when he came on too. The goal will give Doyle a boost. 51 points now. Can start preparing for next season with a bit more confidence. Happy days!

Nice to see a tribute to my old mate Dave Galligan in the programme, and on the big screen at half time. RIP Dave.
