' Birmingham confident of result '

Birmingham City head to the Welsh capital today confident in the knowledge that the Bluebirds no longer fly as high as they used to.

Not only have Russell Slade’s selectoral wings been clipped, with the loss of nine potential first teamers, no-one could deny Cardiff are a long way short of the team Blues have not beaten for the last six years.

The clubs have met six times since James McFadden and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie gave the visitors a 2-1 win at Ninian Park in September 2008, with the Welshmen winning three and drawing three.

However, the days when they could cherry-pick from Blues’ squad have passed – Tom Adeyemi is expected to be on the bench, and owner Vincent Tan is now asking himself: ‘Where did all that money go?’

The £174m the club are reported to owe him could be converted into equity and we won’t even get started with the legal battle with Langstone Corporation. Sound familiar?

Anyway on the pitch, Blues will be buoyed by the return to fitness of Michael Morrison, who was chief disciple during Gary Rowett’s early messianic days, although he doesn’t need to rush the centre back’s return.

Stephen Gleeson is also back after suspension and – not that he will – Rowett could even throw long-term absentees Matt Green and Gavin Gunning into the deep end. The spring sunshine appears to be bringing every member of his squad out of hibernation.

Form-wise Blues haven’t won on their travels since the FA Cup trip to Blyth, since then their record on the road has been Spartan to say the least.

Don’t fret, though, Cardiff haven’t been victorious in front of their own supporters since January 10. Also relevant is the fact Cardiff have scored just five times in the final 15 minutes this season, a joint-league-low with Sheffield Wednesday. By contrast, Blues plundered two in two injury-time minutes their last time away from home.

They have every right to be, too...

Win, lose of draw, a result is certainly on the cards! LOL

Have a good feeling for today and I'm thinking Birmingham may depart empty-handed :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Good chance of a City win. But there again it could be a draw.
