Marshall could be in line to return for the Bluebirds against Birmingham on Saturday

David Marshall could be set to hand Cardiff City a huge home boost as they look to avoid entering the record books against Birmingham.

Bluebirds skipper Marshall has spent the last few weeks on the sidelines with a groin problem, with Simon Moore deputising for the Scotland international.

But as Cardiff seek to end a winless run of seven games in front of their own fans, Marshall could be returned to the starting line-up this weekend if he comes through training on Friday.

Failure to beat the Blues would make it Cardiff's worst home run in 25 years but Bluebirds boss Russell Slade will be hoping his fit again skipper will hand his side the lift they need for a first three points at Cardiff City Stadium since January 10 and a 1-0 win over Fulham.

Slade will also be without Matt Connolly who yesterday completed a loan move to Watford though the club insist it is not a deal with view to a permanent move.

Scott Malone is likely to step into Connolly's shoes on Saturday with Fabio switching to the other side of defence.

Federico Macheda returns after suspension and Slade has no fresh injury concerns over the side which drew with Bournemouth in midweek.

Id let Moore keep his place and see if he really is up to it now.

I have to agree, it would be wrong to compare him to Marshall but I do think he's a good young keeper and will get better

We know what Marshall can do, we won't learn anything new from him playing.

I think you are missing the point here.
Cardiff need to amass as many points as they can until the end of the season.
Slade will field the strongest team available to him every week and who can blame him.
If Marshall is fit he has to play.
The results from now until the end of the season will have a substantial influence on how many season tickets are sold.

I'd rather play our best players. I don't come to a football game to learn something new.
