This decision on Connelly shows a lack of planning

Fri Mar 20, 2015 7:43 am

I've never bashed Tan but I do question our clubs management and forward planning. We sell our best full back (Brayford) , send another out on loan (John) , then we insist on playing a centre half at full back before moving him on.

The upshot is that we now have to start again against Birmingham with 2 full backs who haven't had much game time lately.

It looks to me like nobody is thinking more than a week or more in advance right now.

It's alright saying we need to trim back and start again but the truth is we've pretty much gone down the pan in the process. We play crap football and we've lost more supporters than some teams actually have in the last 12 weeks.

If Connelly is really just a fringe player why get rid of Declan and virtually freeze out other full backs in order to give him again then just to move him on.

Sadly Every player is for sale and Russell is a nodding dog.
No wonder fans are not renewing season tickets.

We are fine at fullback, it's not like we are trying for promotion. Malone, Fabio, Peltier, gabbidon, ralls even gunnar and whitts have filled in if need be, maybe even that barnum Bob if he is still about.

Manga, Morrison at centre back is more of a concern but I believe Peltier and Malone can fill in along with gabbidon.

Didn't this penny drop when we spent millions in the summer then decided to sell everyone in the winter?

There is no such thing as planning at our club. Nobody knows what's going on from the chairman to the players

Cardiff, somewhat surprisingly, this week sanctioned a move that saw defender Matthew Connolly join Championship leaders Watford on loan.

This loan arrangement, which appeared to come completely out of the blue, was agreed to see him spent the remainder of the season at Vicarage Road. You would assume this is a 'loan with the option' at the end of it? Although Russell Slade has said it was 'a business decision' and he could still have a future with Cardiff.

Connolly's versatility, as he can play right along the back four, would have appealed to Watford so you can't say that it's a surprise a side chasing promotion wanted him but it was a surprise that we let him go! He had played five of our last six-matches, including the full 90-minutes of our one-one draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday.

A strange one, you would also have to assume that this was a move that he wanted to make?

Back at the Cardiff City Stadium though is Rhys Healey; he was due to see out the season on loan with Colchester in League 1 but the strikers been recalled by Slade. It remains to be seen if he'll be involved in the first-team squad though? If he wasn't why recall him!
