Man City knocked out by Barca

Manchester City become the final English team to be eliminated from the Champions League after defeat by Barcelona.

Lionel Messi's masterclass dumped Manchester City out of the Champions League as the Premier League lost its last team in the competition.

The style of football is where the premier league wins against all.

It is so frantic and competitive. Which is why it is great.

Maybe skill is lacking but who cares.

And Barcelona are tax avoidance cheats that accepted sponsorship from an organisation that bankroll terrorism.

Neymar should not be allowed to play.

FIFA want the game to be technical, faster, but less physical and have changed the laws to create that.

A standard 442 with 6"2' central midfielders will be consigned to the history books with jacketed refs, laced footballs and black boot with normal studs.

Getting stuck in will be for parks football (and some of our fans). I can't recall the last shoulder charge I have seen go unpunished.

I can see premier league refs and by default championship refs being told to rule out even more physicality by the premier league. We are out of touch with the rest of Europe and the performance of the last three years will affect TV revenue in the future if premier league teams are not seen as the elite.

But we have Russ and his 1980's style......League 1 for us unless we adapt, and I can't see why he will..

And they are right to say so.

The three best teams in the world (Barca, Real and Munich) aren't Premier League but that doesn't mean the Premier League isn't the strongest league. Celtic would beat all of the Championship too - but the Championship is still stronger than the SPL.

If you took the top 20 teams in Europe, then the Premier League would probably have the highest number of representatives than any other league. Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea would all probably make it in.
