MATTY KENNEDY: THIS TEAM HAS FOUND CONFIDENCE

Wed 18th March 2015

by Oliver Roderick

Pleased to be part of a growing City spirit

Cardiff City winger Matty Kennedy reflected on another bright personal performance after the Bluebirds had fought for a draw with high-flying AFC Bournemouth at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening.

“It took us a while to get ourselves into the game and I didn’t feel I had a great opening twenty minutes, but I thought we were the better team after that, especially in the second half,” he said to Cardiff City Player, post-match.

“They were top of the league so it was always going to be a big ask to go out and beat them, but I thought we did well.

“Before the game we’d probably have taken a point, because Bournemouth were on form and have been putting four or five goals past teams regularly.

"As the game went on we could have got frustrated, because the ball just didn’t seem to be going into the back of the net for the second goal that I thought we deserved. We were definitely worthy of the three points.”

Matty has had a fantastic start to his Cardiff City career since his January switch from Everton, and the pacey wide man confirmed that he was pleased with the way things have gone so far.

“I’m happy with the way I’m playing,” he continued. “I’ve only just turned 20, so I was the youngest out there for both of the teams tonight. I just want to do my best, focusing on the good performances rather than the bad ones, and hopefully that’ll help me to get more consistency in my game.

“We've taken confidence from getting points against two very good teams in the last couple of games. Now it’s a case of building on that, and that starts with getting three points against Birmingham City at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.”

Thought we signed Kennedy and loaned the other guy.

I like Kennedy, a good solid player at a good age, plenty to learn but time on his side. Mind I do think people for carried away after his debut.

Decent player who has good pace and dribbling skills, just needs a bit of end product and hr will be the finished article :bluescarf: at 20 years of age he has time on his side :ayatollah:

I think it's a bit misleading Kennedy is already signed permanently.

He's been quality so far !

We should try and sign mcaleny as well permanently

I think Kennedy is a fantastic player every time I have watched him this season you always feel he's going to do something exciting tired towards the end but that's what happens when you put the effort in and as he said he is only twenty years of age :bluescarf:

I am not that impressed. One of the poorer players against Bournemouth . But there again I wasn't all that fussed on Daehli when everyone on here seemed to love him.

yes I remember that about Daeli
On Kennedy, I agree in the first half he was ineffective but 2nd half he started to come good but then was taken off :? not sure if he took a knock or something, the same happened at Brentford
