Cardiff City debrief: Bruno Manga class, possession problems and why didn't Callum Wilson goal stand?

:ayatollah: ' Turning point ' :ayatollah:

Callum Wilson challenged Cardiff keeper Simon Moore during the second half. Moore kicked out of his hands and Wilson closed him down.

The ball hit him in the back and rebounded towards goal, hitting the bar. Wilson followed up and fired into an empty net, but referee Lee Mason (Bolton) ruled the effort out.

He even booked Wilson. Why?

I would have thought Wilson was allowed to close down the goalkeeper. He turned his back and did not raise his foot.

A goal at that stage would have put Bournemouth back in front and they would surely have won.

:ayatollah: ' Star man ' :ayatollah:

Centre-back Bruno Manga. The big man is cool under pressure, strong in the challenge and showed he knows how to score. I just hope he stays with Cardiff next season.

:ayatollah: ' Biggest gaffes ' :ayatollah:

Referee Lee Mason got a couple of decisions wrong - in Cardiff’s favour. That effort from Callum Wilson should surely have counted, while Bournemouth had a good penalty shout turned down.

That was a real boost for the Bluebirds, who worked hard for their draw.

Cardiff fought for everything and earned a little luck.

:ayatollah: ' Moan of the match ' :ayatollah:

Bournemouth had too much of the ball. Once again Cardiff failed to keep it. Bournemouth had 77 per cent possession in the first half and even by the end that were in the high 60s.

Cardiff have to change that - and it may mean a change of personnel in midfield.

Did the manager get his selection and tactics right
Two changes. Kenwyne Jones in for the suspended Federico Macheda, Matt Connolly back for injured Lee Peltier.

City played 4-4-2 with Jones and Alex Revell in attack. The two big men certainly caused problems in aerial assaults, but they weren’t at their best when the ball was on the floor.

Maybe Eoin Doyle should have started.

' Who needs to do more? '

Alex Revell. I love his enthusiasm, drive and energy. But I want to see a touch more composure, a little more awareness. He gives it everything, works hard for his team-mates and I can’t fault him on those fronts.

He must work on finding a little extra Championship quality.

:ayatollah: ' Reason to be positive ' :ayatollah:

Cardiff players are battling for each other and giving everything for the cause. That hasn’t always been the case this season in terms of the team effort, but it’s clear they are playing for Russell Slade.

They have bought into what he is asking of them.

:ayatollah: What does it mean for the league table? :ayatollah:

Bournemouth knocked off the top. Watford are number one, Derby second and Bournemouth third.

Cardiff climb one place to 13th, just below halfway.

I love Manga, quality players but if we are going to continue to make cut backs then we have no place for a player who holds his value and no doubt on a big wage, I just hope he gets a good move.
