' Howe blasts ref after stalemate '
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was critical of Premier League referee Lee Mason after seeing his team lose ground in the Championship title race.
Mason waved away a strong first-half penalty appeal before he disallowed a bizarre goal in the 73rd minute.
Bluebirds goalkeeper Simon Moore hit a kick out of hand into Callum Wilson's back and the ball rebounded off the crossbar and into the striker's path, with Wilson then finding the back of the net.
Howe was left smarting when Wilson was shown a yellow card and believes the official's decisions cost the South coast club, who now trail their rivals by two points.
He said: "You'll have to ask the referee why the goal was not allowed, I don't think he had a particularly good game and that's an understatement.
"Callum was looking the other way, he stood his ground which is allowed and the goalkeeper has kicked it at his back.
"That's a real strange decision and ultimately it's cost us two points.
"In my view, it was a penalty in the first-half, that's my honest opinion having looked at it."
He added: "It was usual Championship game, I thought it was a good match with good tempo.
"I thought we were excellent on the night and deserved to win, we played very good football and dominated.
"We knew Cardiff's threats and ultimately they scored a goal from that, but the way we defended set-pieces is the only disappointment on the night."
Harry Arter had given Bournemouth the lead with a long-range shot that found the top corner but they failed to find the crucial second goal from a host of close-range chances.
And Bruno Ecuele-Manga was the man who made them pay when he latched onto to a trademark Peter Whittingham cross to send a bullet header past Artur Boruc.
The draw moves Russell Slade's side into 13th place but they still have just one win from their last nine matches at the Cardiff City Stadium.
"I thought we were worth a point against a very good side who played on the front-foot very quickly," said Slade.
"They pinned us back and deserved the lead, but the qualities that we're showing are that we stayed in the game.
"Eight or nine weeks ago we would have conceded a second goal which would have put it beyond us.
"But we showed great resilience and real determination to come back and offer a threat.
"Bournemouth had their chances and they are top of the league for a reason."

Slade showing his inferiority complex yet again.
Shows other teams way too much respect.
And it was only a couple of weeks ago that we let a team score a second goal against us to beat us Russell, not eight or nine weeks - have you forgotten Charlton already?

The ref was poor tonight, their disallowed goal should have stood too.

Slade clearly means we would have gone 2-0 down and been out of the game 8 or 9 weeks ago. We're different now though, tonight was a point gained from a resilient City side and the point was well deserved and a fair result imo.

They are top for a reason cos they are currently the best side in this league
And we would have lost that game a few months ago

There goal should've stood but that penalty appeal from where i was sat was a clear dive. Could be wrong havent seen the replay but it looked like manga pulled out and he went over anyway. Karma there for you.

Completely agree, I'm at the bottom of the Canton and it was a clear dive, he should've been booked for it.

Throughout the game Wilson stood in the way and moved to the keepers right to obstruct him as he was turning when the keeper was about to kick, it is a bit ironic when he did not move he scored and got booked, the ref should have taken action earlier.
