Oldham Athletic lining up loan move for ex-Cardiff City defender
BY SEAN MAKIN ⋅ MARCH 17, 2015

Oldham Athletic are lining up a loan move for Huddersfield Town defender Anthony Gerrard, according to journalist Pete O’Rouke.

Gerrard is a target for Oldham Athletic

The 29-year-old has made just four appearances for the Terriers this season and has not featured in the squad since the win over Bolton Wanderers on December 28.

The centre-back, cousin of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, has been told he is free to leave the club by Huddersfield boss Chris Powell.

A calf injury picked up in pre-season kept Gerrard out of action for the first quarter of the season but has found his opportunities limited since returning to full fitness.

The Liverpudlian, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was brought to Town by former boss Simon Grayson in 2012 and has made 91 appearances for the club, scoring twice.

He began his career at Everton before having spells at Walsall, Cardiff City and Hull City (loan).

Huddersfield are also set to lose Football Operations Director Ross Wilson to Premier League Southampton at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has been with the West Yorkshire club since August 2012 after previously working in similar roles for Falkirk and Watford.

Never in a million years.

Give up your only chance of a winners medal, just to give the team you support, a League Cup win, when they already have a tonne of silverware?

No chance. If he did, he is a retard.

Not that I disagree with the comments already made but 2 other players missed penalties aswell and at least he had the balls to step up and take one.

Just a slight exaggeration there.

There is footage of the ball grazing the outside of the post.

Is there evidence that he celebrated with Liverpool or are you just believing the conspiracy theories?

I was informed he didn't miss on purpose it was far from the truth, I heard he wanted to be the one who scored the winner against Liverpool so he demanded the 5th penalty spot, but missed. He wasn't supposed to be the fifth penalty taker, his ego was Soo big he stepped up instead of someone who should of taken it

I remember him taking it - as he walked up everyone just said he`s going to miss , his whole walk up etc didn't look as if he had any confidence at all

What if he'd scored, though?? ;)

I'm not a believer in the "He missed on purpose" conspiracy theory, but if anyone was going to take the fall for such an event, then it was him and his Mersey Tunnel-sized gob! ;) :(

I wish him well wherever he ends up and bear no grudges, as he was more a fool to himself than us fans! :ayatollah:

I must admit that does sound more believable. He was surely not out fifth best penalty taker.
