" He had to go "

By Terry Phillips

Why did Federico Macheda put himself in a position where he would be sent off. There was no doubt he had to go, none at all.

He was a contender for man of the match, having scored a third goal on three games and enjoyed an assist on Alex Revell’s winner. He was booked for swinging an arm in frustration and was close to a second yellow after his timing for a challenge was a long way off.

After that let off, though, Macheda went in again without thinking and the referee, Andy Davies, had no choice but to send him off.

There was no need to do it. That moment could have proved costly, but thankfully Kiko’s team-mate hung on for the win.

Would like to see it again.
I thought it was high feet but not particularly bad at the time.

I'm sure there was a similar one the other way earlier which didn't even result in a free kick.

Tim, I watched it on TV,I thought it wasnt that high, but maybe a yellow card?

Kadeem's was a bad foul though.

Yeah.
Just saw it again.

Borderline decision, it was a bit clumsy or even lazy, probably a booking, but still harsh.
Nice to see him putting himself about though.

Harris was 50/50, both slid in but Harris only caught part of the ball.
The Brentford player's reaction was shameful.

Not a sending off for me. Booking maybe. I've seen worse go unpunished

Agree with this, it was an ugly looking challenge from Harris but he did take the ball first, I don't think it was even a foul, nevermind a sending off. 20 years ago we would be applauding hard determined tackles like that but the game has changed for the worse. Macheda's sending off was very harsh as his foot rose no higher than stomach height. The Brentford player ducked which made it look higher than it was. The referee did us no favours and neither were sending offs imo.
