Cardiff defied the odds at Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon as they managed a 2-1 win against Brentford.
Saturday 14th March 2015
It looked like a normal day when Andre Gray put The Bee’s ahead after Simon Moore failed to hold Pritchard’s free-kick on 28 minutes. Kiko Macheda then picked up a silly yellow card for obstructing David Button when trying to clear.
The Bluebirds would have felt unlucky going into the break behind, even though they offered very little in attack. Half time saw the introduction of Kadeem Harris for Matthew Kennedy, which proved to be a good move by Russell Slade, as Harris had a very positive impact.
Cardiff then equalised through Kiko Macheda after a mistake from David Button in the Brentford goal. A mix-up between Button and his defender allowed Kiko an easy tap-in on 53 minutes.
15 minutes later Alex Revell gave The Bluebirds the lead, a chip over Button who was in no mans land, allowed Revell a very classy finish. However, after that things started to go down hill for the Cardiff.
On 78 minutes Harris’s afternoon was brought to an end, a high challenge on Alan Judge resulted in an early bath for the 21-year old, the resulting free-kick came to nothing. Cardiff were then down to 9 after Kiko Macheda was shown a second yellow for cynical challenge.
After 6 minutes of added time and relentless Brentford pressure, The Bluebirds held on for their third consecutive away win, the other two coming against Wigan and Rotherham Utd.
They next welcome Bournemouth to The CCS on Saturday, hoping to pull off another stunning victory.
