LEAGUE ONE NEWS: Former Newcastle United and Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra on trial with Port Vale.

FORMER Premier League striker Michael Chopra is on trial at Port Vale.

The 31-year-old has returned to England from a spell in the Indian Premier League and is a free agent but Vale will be cautious before offering the player any deal.

Chopra has experience of the Championship, most recently with Blackpool and the club will be hoping he can offer them a boost.

Crawley Town midfielder Marvin Elliott is fit to play against relegation rivals Colchester on Saturday.

Elliott has missed the last four games through injury, and the former Bristol City star could make his first appearance since scoring in their 5-1 drubbing to Barnsley on February 14.

Town interim manager Dean Saunders said: “It will be a tough game at Colchester away from home as they are down there with us but we have to make sure we take the momentum we have got from the performances and turn them into results.”

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough is considering his defensive options ahead of the Blades game against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

With Chris Basham suspended for the next two games Clough said he was confident that the Blades had enough strength in depth to not overly miss the former Blackpool man.

There's also chat on her about Bothroyd.

Chops and Bothroyd could probably do a job for us at the moment. Well couldn't score fewer than the current strikers.

If they were both fit they both would be awesome Still only 31 got plenty of legs left in them but are they fit and committed enough ?
