Cardiff City striker Alex Revell tells of his frustration at 'stop-start' first two months with Bluebirds

Forward keen to earn a starting spot with Russell Slade's men, and says: "Hopefully when one goal comes along, there will be more."
' Alex Revell has been in and out of the side since joining Cardiff City '
Alex Revell has revealed the frustration he is feeling after a stop-start first two months with the Bluebirds.
The Cambridge-born centre-forward is experiencing Championship football for the first time at 31, and has scored one goal in four starts for Cardiff City plus seven appearances as a substitute.
Revell, though, is aiming to make his mark over Cardiff’s last 10 matches as he battles with Kenwyne Jones, Federico Macheda and Eoin Doyle for a starting spot in attack.
Nicky Maynard, too. is nearing fitness and intent on staking a claim to start.
“It’s been frustrating, no question about that,” says Revell, who would love to start in Saturday’s Championship clash with Brentford at Griffin Park.
“But I will keep working hard and doing everything I can to give the gaffer reasons to select me. I want to start and I need to score goals.”
Revell, 31, started alongside Macheda during the 3-1 win at Rotherham, although both went off during the game with Doyle and Jones taking over, but then Revell was left out of the starting line-up against Charlton.
“Kiko and I have spent a lot of time playing together in training matches, with Kenwyne and Eoin on the other team,” says Revell.
“We enjoy playing alongside each other and have both been focused on making an impression.
“I don’t mind who I play alongside. The key is that I work hard to earn the chance to start and then take it when I get in.

My personal opinion Revell and Doyle good hard working 3rd division players.

Works hard but won't score many, never has and was never going to improve our side, hence the reason most of the time he's on the bench.
Classic Slade

I don't know why we ever bought him in the first place. He just doesn't look good enough and has shown no quality. He has not earned a starting place, but then neither have the rest of our strikers.

I thought that Maynard's contract had been terminated by agreement.

I can understand taking a punt on Doyle as he's scored a good few this season and I hope in time he will adapt and come good. But signing revell is a mystery to me. Works hard but that should be a given with every player. Not good enough.

Have'nt seen all the games he's played in, but in the ones that I have he's been full of energy, chasing and tackling, whilst not showing any sort of goal threat whatsoever.

that is what I have seen

Clubs chasing a promotion in this league clearly need more than that in their strikers' armoury.

He is ok, nothing special, dont really see why we bought him when we had Jones.
I do find it strange the way certain players are in and out of the team under slade. Some seem to go from no where to be seen to in the first team then disappear again.

He hasent scored in ages now anyway for first, and yeh your right goals win matches but i believe we would score more goals without him in the side, we would have more movement up front and an all round better style of play creating more chances which equal goals.
Personally i think what im saying was proved right really when we scored 3 goals against rotherham when kenwynne jones was dropped.

They gave Revell a huge welcome up in Rotherham last week. They've obviously seen a side of him that we haven't.

One of our hardest working players but also one of our worst players in our squad. Seems a nice guy and has a good attitude but he's simply just hasn't got any quality for this level we need to invest in younger players and a prolific striker which is what's missing for us.

Of the 6 players bought by Slade, Revell was with 4 others who did not make the team against Charlton.
Only the out of position left/right back Peltier was selected.
So are Slades purchases any better than what we had already ? ..or just cheap replacement squad members.
I think some of the 6 could do a job, but its all been huff and puff so far...and back on the bench for most of them.
