A forum for all things Cardiff City
Tue Mar 10, 2015 8:14 am
I asked this question on Facebook and basically everyone ignored it and skirted around the issue so though I would ask on here. As we seem to be open to owners heritage on our badge, NOTHING to do with Cardiff and NOTHING to do with Wales (despite the frankly insulting excuse of "it's the dragon on top of City Hall". What if Tan is bought out by an Englishman and he wants an English Rose on the badge or the St George's cross, how accepting would everyone be then?
Be interested to see the opinions as that would as insulting as what Tan has done in my eyes.

I think your view is a bit extreme, badges and kits can easily be changed...
Last time I read though this forum there was all this talk of a consortium, to date this hasn't transpired!! A little red dragon on the bottom of the badge isn't going to bother me whilst Vincent pumps money in the keep the club afloat, I believe its a little sacrifice.

I don't think it's extreme, we have an oriental dragon on our badge for goodness sake. Where has the money got us so far? Mid table in Championship and watching the worst football for years, club fanbase still split. This reverse of the rebrand is all well and good but the long term damage Tan has done to our club will take years to heal.

Its a really good point Ely Boy and I hope it doesn't happen again!
Can you imagine David Sullivan putting a Welsh Dragon, leek, three feathers or daffodil on West Hams badge

the Chinese Dragon is Shit in the badge and I can't believe that some of the most vocal people over the rebrand have excepted it ,the rebrand badge had a bluebird and the Welsh national Dragon on it but the new one has a bloody Chinese Dragon on it and the same people are creaming their pants cause the blueburd is bigger ,looks like they are happy now with rebranding our clubs Welsh history and identity !

Three feathers on our shirt would be the ultimate nightmare.

Why can't people just except it's in tans nature to be bullish about what he does? To talk about what if blah blah blah is nonsense as it has probably never happened before and is not likely to either! Just looking at another way to drag tan down, let's find something else now he as more or less reversed rebrand! We have a badge of Owain glyndew in our history what's that to do with ccfc?
Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:27 pm
I agree with Wez (and we rarely have during the rebrand) but this badge for me is on a par with the beermat. At least the Welsh dragon was on that one.
I for one will have no compromise but I am not going to put people down who are willing too, it's my opinion and I have never backed down from it. Tan has ruined the club in my eyes and I won't be happy til he is long gone.

rebranding the badge through the back door with this one

Still no one has answered my English owner question. Hopefully because the fact an owner has put an oriental Dragon on the Cardiff City badge has got home. There is no difference between that and the English scenario
Tue Mar 10, 2015 4:56 pm
As dragons never existed how do we know that our particular one is Malaysian, perhaps it's really an English one and Tan is really trying to annoy us.

The English have have been far more ruthless to the Welsh than Vincent Tan's little dragon... Dare I mention our National Flag the union Jack and our cricket team which is supposed to be England & Wales but again no mention... A little dragon is not going to leave me with sleepless nights!!

It's not the Dragon on our national flag or been on our badges over the years so it's not a Welsh one

best tribute for Tan would be to set off fireworks after every City win, shouldn't be to costly
Tue Mar 10, 2015 7:10 pm
No owner would put the St George cross or Union Jack on a clubs badge as the PC brigade would brand them Racist

Nope not under slade anyway probably won't need any for this season

Its a moot point as it would never happen.
Tan will always try and sell our product in Asia and he probably thinks the dragon will help and give them something they can relate to.
An English owner would not need to sell the product to England as it is already at saturation levels in this country.
An English owner would know that the game in the UK is very parochial. Whereas an Asian owner knows there is a massive market in the far east with fans fickle enough to change allegiances.
Let us not forget we play in an English league system. Should an English Rose be THAT offensive.

Three years ago I would have said that Cardiff fans would let a Malaysian waltz in, change the colour of shirts, badge and put an oriental Dragon on it aye. How wrong I was

Let's b fair guys if u sold ur house u wouldn't tell the new owner that he couldn't paint or decorate it would u..? I don't agree with Tans methods or the way he made our club a laughing stock last season however I am grateful for his money as he saved our club when we were on the brink of destruction and believe he is still keeping us afoat at present. If only we had a Welshman that had his wealth.
Our situation will never change whilst Tan and the puppets are trying to run our club and our poor management structure is in place, but what do we do....???
We as fans carry on United and support our club and get behind the team

Having the Union Jack on our badge along with the welsh flag would be fine so long as he was pumping his millions into our club that plays in the English pyramid system

Would have taken longer to heal a liquidated club.

I have never seen the evidence of this massive market that everyone talks about, come to think of it how many people have been to Malaysia and seen any Cardiff shirts for sale ?? Hmmm

Agreed. Why is there a Chinese dragon on a Welsh football clubs badge

Or another example, what if we were bought by a jack that wanted to put a swan on our logo to signify the spleadour of the Mumbles!

If the Cardiff fan base responded to an English rose the way it responded to Tans rebrand I would have totally disowned them. I walk have walked and would never come back unless someone would have shot the lot of them.
I'm not bias against the English but as they are our neighbours where it is only natural to oppose them then an acceptance of the rose would have been just too much for me.
