What Incentive For Our Youngsters?

Sat Mar 07, 2015 3:12 pm

When a youngster comes into the team plays well when replacing an underperforming player, and then bang gets dropped again.

Im sorry but wether we win or not today whitts coming back in for ralls is very dissappointing and bullshit imo and offers no incentive to a youngster in our academy hoping to break into our team. Also noone straight back in for kennedy same situation again. Cant see slade ever having the bollocks to blood our youngsters and give them a chance being the steady eddy he is.

I'm annoyed at this, Ralls took the opportunity and played really well, and I think he should of started today.
Very disappointing.

Good question, progression gets stunted playing here for the young. Noone has shown nothing to warrant a place in the side. Cue a goal from Nooney :D

I know mate, whittingham and noone have both been average at best all season too, i hope we win today and whitts and noone play well and turn the corner but what annoys me is the way ralls and kennedy have been dropped after doing well, just dosent look promising for the future of other academy players looking to break into the first team does it?

I agree with you and if I was either of them I would be gutted getting the news i'm out of the team

Exactly. I cannot believe that Slade swapped Ralls for Whittingham. Ralls did very well in midweek and he had an assist and was involved in another goal. Why do the younger players at the club bother staying with us?? They never get a chance and our current manager isn't only to blame as Solskjser, Malky and Jones hardly ever gave the younger players a chance either. I honestly think that if Ralls had of started today and the team had not been changed, then we would have won. Isn't it interesting that when Whittingham plays we struggle to score goals. Before the Rotherham game we scored 3 goals in 6 matches with Whittingham playing every game. Then he gets sent off and is banned for the Rotherham game, so we replace him with Joe Ralls and we score 3 goals in one match, before half time, with Ralls getting an assist for our first goal and Ralls also played very well according to the manager. But then today, Slade changes a winning side - one or two may have been forced due to injuries - and unbelievably drops Joe Ralls for Peter Whittingham, who at the moment is terribly out of form, inconsistent in all areas of his game, disinterested, wishy-washy, stagnated, static and lazy. Then whatI happens we struggle to score again today, although we did manage 1 goal in the second half, but then we let Charlton back in the game when we concede the equaliser and of course after that then the usual happens and we concede another goal, with a few minutes left and we lose 2-1. We always concede within the last 15 minutes and that is not good enough. Yet again another poor performance, how is this guy still in charge?? The problem with those 2 away wins back to back is just papering over the cracks and delaying the inevitable, which of course is Slade leaving or being sacked by the club. I am really starting to lose my patience with him for his pi*s poor performances and also the manager who continually selects him in the starting eleven. Personally, at this particular time Peter Whittingham offers us absolutely nothing, even his set piece taking is becoming average at best and his set pieces are in my opinion, the only reason that i can think of as to why he is in our starting lineup as he does very little else. Anyway, you cannot justify playing a player every game just because now and then he can sometimes - when he can be bothered - produce a good free kick, corner or pass. I cannot understand all of the stick that Gunnarsson has constantly received over the season. Yes, he may not be the best technical footballer that we have at the club. But, there are many other attributes that he brings to the team, which for the DM position that he plays, is essential. However Gunnarsson may perform during a game, he will always give the team 100%, passion, commitment, determination, a great work rate and there is nobody out there who can say that Whittingham does the same.
