could slade bottle it today???

could slade bottle his decision to leave whitts out today by playing ralls at left back again
ralls defo should not be dropped
the above option would allow slade to bring whitts back and play ralls
for the record I would not bring whitts back and would play ralls in the middle again :bluescarf:

Rarely for me I missed the midweek game so I can't comment on how decent Ralls played in midfield but I can say he's definitely no full back.

How strange are we at Cardiff City, we constantly move full backs to unnatural sides to accomodate centre halves as make shift full backs and today we are thinking we might do the same to fit around midfield players.

Bizarre if you ask me when we have just farmed out a much more natural left back and seem to be refusing a Champions League final full back any chance of a game.

He will upset a few if he does.

If he does pick Whitts the midfielder better play a corker else Slade will get a hammering.

Fabio will play left back today and Ralls will start in midfield

Why would it be a 'bottle'?
Whether you want Whitts or Ralls doesn't mean Slade will 'bottle' it with his decision.

I didnt realise hes potentially coming up to his 300th appearance. My gut feeling is that this will swing it for Slade and he will bottle it, though I hope Im wrong!

The blind leading the blind at the Club.

No sense of direction on or off the field.

Spend your money elsewhere until RS is gone :bluescarf:

Slade is shit as far as I'm concerned.

Just a quick one can any one tell me what Joe Ralls' best attributes are, I rate him as a good prospect and someone who could have a good future at the club but I'm just interested in what everyone else thinks are his best attributes ? :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Pace, vision, composure, goid passing ability, good technique, vitality, good tackler, great shot on him, good movement....etc.

I pretty much agree with all of that and I reckon he has all the making of a good player but for me Whitts has all those attributes (apart from the pace and maybe the tackling) and is better at them, he is a more accomplished passer, better vision a lot more composed, great technique, even better shot on him, clever movement.

At this moment in time I personally think Whitts deserves his place in the team, he hasn't been great this year but who really has, he's playing in a team with little movement and in a system that doesn't looked to have much attacking idea.

Yes I agree Whittingham has good technique and is a good passer. But so is Ralls equally. Im not so sure about Whittingham's vision...often he just performs sideways shuffles and misses obvious opportunities. But nonetheless at this level theres no denying hes a reasonable player. However its his lack of pace, vitality, movement and tackling ability which makes him a poor fit for us in my opinion.

Nevertheless, Im sure you and I will never agree on his attributes or lack of them. But, because this is a post about Slade bottling it, which he did; I wonder what your opinion of that might be from a managerial point of view. My point, regardless of mine and your opinion on Whittingham and Ralls is that no good manager changes a winning team unless forced to do so, and for two main reasons:

1. Its important to keep and develop the momentum and enthusiasm from the previous game
2. Longer term, its important to reward and develop players who have performed well.

On the second point: just what message does it send out to Joe Ralls that no matter how he performed (he was voted MOM at Rotherham btw) he will always be second best to the manager's favourite? Thats just plain awful man management!

Also, as Ive posted on another thread, just how stupid is Russell Slade? Had he kept the Tuesday side and it won he would have been vindicated, and had it lost he could have turned around and said it wasnt his preferref choice but he didnt want to change a winning team. People would have respected him and thought more highly of him. Hes shot himself in the foot!

I agree changing a winning a team has always been a bit of a no no for me but I was at Rotherham and even though it looked like a confident 3-1 result, performance wise we were still poor, we never moved the ball anywhere near as much as we did yesterday, we just played the percentages and were clinical against a really really shit Rotherham team. I think the changes he made improved our performance but ultimately it's about results and like you said he has shot himself in the foot to an extent because he could have played the "never change a winning team" card.

Also Unfortunately for Joe that's football, hopefully he has the character to say "f**k that, I'll show him again that I should be the one starting". He could be the perfect replacement for Whitts when the time comes but for me right now the time is not right now.

One thing I think we can both agree on is Slade is shocking. :laughing6: :laughing6:
