Just a normal Friday night junior football training session in Cardiff then... only with a bit of help from Ryan Giggs
The former Wales international turned up to a training session on Friday night at the Powerleague pitches in Whitchurch, Cardiff
Children and soccer coaches were stunned when Wales legend Ryan Giggs turned up to their training session.
Youngsters at Whitchurch AFC had been expecting an ex-Wales international to put them through their paces but they had no idea who it was going to be.
The club trains at the Powerleague all weather pitches in the grounds of Whitchurch High School off Manor Way.
'We had no idea'
Dad Mike Farrell, from Whitchurch, who coaches a team of seven-year-olds said he couldn’t believe it when Giggs turned up.
He said: “We did know a former Wales international was coming along but we had no idea it was Ryan,” says Mike, whose son Jack, seven, was pictured with the Manchester United hero.
Mr Farrell added: “He was fantastic and spent lots of time with the team. He was very patient and a fantastic role model.
“It was great and something we won’t forget in a hurry. He gave the boys new shirts and practised some skills with them.”
' A real boost '
Coach David Emery, who trains a team of nine and 10-year-olds, said: “It was great to see him turn up and spend time with the youngsters and coaches. It is a real boost for Whitchurch AFC.”
Giggs was there to promote the FAW & McDonald’s Community Awards and encourage people to nominate a #GrassrootsHero.

That is brilliant .
Modern day players should be asked to do more of this in there club contracts .
The memory of players doing this lasts forever to these kids , that's what football is all about to kids that age .
