FAO Any Forum Geeks (computer building advice)

Fri Mar 06, 2015 4:40 pm

I've always fancied building a PC from scratch, so I've decided to give it a go as my son's wants one for his bedroom for gaming and very light video editing.

I would like some advice on components if possible, my son is only 11 so he isn't gonna be to worried about playing games at 60 frames per second, but I want it to run fairly well with a little bit of future proofing too, and I want it all for a reasonable price.

Can you add some recommended components in this topic for such a build.

Case: I've already bought the Zalman Z3 plus
CPU: pondering the Intel g3258 anniversary edition
After market cooler: probably use stock cooler
Motherboard: unsure
Ram: 8gb 1600
GPU: possibly a gtx 960 or if I can't afford that the 750 TI
Power Supply: corsair 500w

anyone with experience please offer me some advice.

My computer is on eBay, Gavin.

If you look in the images there's the spec list of components that makes up the computer. :thumbright:

Your best bet is to go on the Overclockers forums, tell them what you already have in terms of components, tell them your budget and they'll spec you out a good machine on there. Ideally, you'll want well known branded parts (Intel) etc. if you want it future proofed. Mine has lasted me 4 years now with no problems at all. Selling it as I'm off on my travels in the near future and have a laptop for work.
