If it means it will attract more competent AMs then I'm all for it. (same goes for MPs).
I think AMs/MPs should be well paid, but also more accountable for their actions.
Regardless of peoples opinions of the AMs, they do have a lot of power, and therefore I'd want the best people running the country.

The people who will run out country in years to come are being educated now. Yet teaching has taken the same austerity cuts by pay freezes. Those same future leaders need health care, yet there have been huge cuts in levels of finding for the NHS.
The way this is going, more of the global budget from Whitehall will be top-sliced before it reaches Joe Public.
The notion that more pay means better employees is spurious. The bigger the bait, the bigger the rat!

The Merthyr AM and Torfean AM are married and they double claimed on everything at their second home in Penarth yet after a couple of bad reports nothing was done about it and they have continued to be AMs.
Think of the amount of thousands of people who travel to and from work of the same or more distance each and every day yet they don't get second homes provided to them by the taxpayer!!

I know few AM's and in all honesty I wouldn't trust most of them to run a burger van never mind a country.

Every time they come into Cardiff for a meeting they should get a room in the Travelodge and we would save millions on BOGUS second homes.
The same goes for London, all that space in gov owned buildings should be turned into one bed rooms with wi-fi and a 32" tv and a communal canteen. A saving of hundreds of millions of our money.
