Is Russell Slade loaning him out?

Slade has not liked him from day one in my opinion,making him train with the kids was out of order.

Off to Barnsley on a month's loan according to people on twitter, if true good luck to him.

He's better than league 1 but if he does get a run of games then that's good because it's what he needs right now

Chaps reality is , Declan is not fully equipped to defend .

I think unfortunately the winger in him will always be above his defensive attributes.

Probably cause the defence is doing ok at the min why change it ?

After seeing him start as left back in the Premier League he certainly looked like he had potential. I would've loved for him to become a one club man for Cardiff City and being Welsh as well. Definitely needs game time. Hope he goes out on loan. All the best Dec!

Totally agree, would love to see him given a run in the team, IMO he held his own in the so called best league in the World, so how come forgotten and sidelined.

We could do with more welsh/ local guys who could stick around and become legends

What really irritates me is the away fans constantly chanting anti welsh/pro English C... When we don't have a single Welshman on the pitch and the majority of our team are .....English!!! How must that make the likes of Whitts feel, as after all he is as close as we can get to an honorary Welshman

What players? well he has got rid of most of them

Have said this time and time again I know Declans family and he is a left winger and they are changing him to a left back it's a hard position and he is still very young. Wolves and Barnsley are interested . I hope we keep him but I think the kid has great potential. He played well in some of the prem games

Kevin, I promise you Declan has been totally respectful and has no problem, just wants to play like Daehli wanted to.

He can't defend so having a defender who can't defend may as well go out on loan

I would honestly have had him and Fabio as our wingers when Noone needed a rest. I think John is a better winger than a left back. In fact, I don't think he's a left back, I think at his most defensive he's a left wing back.

I believe John has a lot to learn in defending and a run of games is what he needs,unfortunatly he is not going to get that run here so a loan is best for everyone.Then assess him again!

have to disagree.. think we must have had the worst set of full backs ever for a premier league team last season. There was no one even half decent to stop john playing so many games

You could say the about a lot of players and positions. John was far from worst of the bunch, and got something the others don't. Youth, talent and local attachment. Just the kind of player Slade throws out the door. Malone offers nothing over either John or Fabio. And I'm sure after playing Peltier, Connolly and Ralls before him, Marshall is up next. talk about treating players with respect, and then say in the media after they are part of your plans

It's all about opinions, but whilst I believe that John has a good future ahead of him, I think that Malone had shown in his last couple of games before his injury, that he'll be a very good left back for us, as he has appeared to improve his defensive frailties!

As for Fabio, he's possibly the worse defender we've ever had at full back and he's a red card waiting to happen, should we ever decide to play him further upfield!

I went to Everton last year to see us play.. in the pub after the game talking to some Everton fans...wanted to know who the 2 left sided youngsters where as they looked a really decent partnership..skillfull..comfortable on the ball..not afraid to put their foot in and full of energy

The 2 players were Daehli and Declan...in my opinion both hugely promising but unfortunately both completely mismanaged!!!!!

Im not a Declan fan, well certainly not at fullback. Defensively not good enough. Maybe as an attacking player but we have got better in that position. A loan will do him good
