' CARDIFF FANS YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS '

I have been critical of Russell Slade, his selections, tactics, performances and our results but when he gets it right I will also give credit.

Getting it right may not mean that we get a win, it could be that there is an improvement in our performance, it could be making a substitution to try and improve something so it is not only about results at the moment, we are going through massive changes in the squad and it won't happen overnight so there needs to be an understanding from us that things won't clck straight away.

What really frustrates me though is fans have an opinion on Slade and won't or don't want to give him any credit for anything.

If we lost to Wigan and Rotherham away, fans would be screaming and shouting that Slade is useless and needs to go but when we beat these teams it is a case of that they are rubbish at home and we should be beating them anyway or better still Paul Trollope is the guy responsible for the results.

Sorry but if Slade is to blame for the defeats then he must be responsible for the wins.

I am not saying that Slade is the perfect manager and we are going to scale great heights under him but at least give him credit for the good things when you blame him for the bad spells.

Before the game last night, fans at the game were criticising Slade for picking Macheda, I even had texts before kick-off claiming he is barking mad and has lost the plot but I didn't hear anyone saying the opposite after Macheda scored a cracker and justified his starting place.

The midfield consisted of three players under 20 years old last night and had we been turned over then I am sure there would have been critical comments about his selection.

Nothing wrong with being critical but at least be fair.

Totally agree Carl. Don't like Slade but recently he has got it right and he deserves credit for that.

We'll said!

Trollope is getting all the praise, ok he may have his hand in but you can't overlook Slade when we win and blame him when we loose.

Good and fair post! Credit to slade he got it right.

One thing though Carl, midfield did not consist of anyone under 20. Mcaleny, ralls and Kennedy are young but not teenagers. They are all in their early 20s. Mcaleny and Kennedy are excellent in my opnion. Have to say though mcaleny is not really a wide player.. Id like to see him as a striker.

It could be that the combination of Slade and Trollope TOGETHER can take the team forward. Now is the time to bring all those promising under 21 team players forward, and perhaps these are the pair to do it.

Where I disagree here and I've mentioned it on another thread is thst Slade had nothing to do eith Whittingham being absent ladt night. It took a referee to help him out. Why should he take any credit for it?

I agree to a certain extent. We played a little better on the weekend when we went down to 10 men, and we were slightly improved on Tuesday, and as you say this was a change forced on us rather than a Slade masterstroke. He has to be given credit for the changes up front which resulted in 3 away goals, but we need some consistency now to show that we are winning games because of him rather than in spite of him.

Ok Steve good point! I think I might have been unfair in not giving Slade credit for bringing Macheda back in. Great goal it has to be said!

Slade may have had nothing to do with whitts getting sent off (that was all down to whitts himself) but he has had a big hand in shaping the mentality and formation of the squad which then picked our heads up and battled back against them.

Even with ten men we never gave up and kept going at them, and slade has had a BIG part in that

We lost at home yet again today.

And Slade played a BIG part in that.

Yeah, because of a penalty given that ( I don't think) was a penalty at all. played well during the first half and ok during the second. Didn't stop fighting at the end and kept trying to get a goal.

Still better at the moment than we've been for the last year and a bit.

According to Slade it was a penalty. It's all about results and playing ok is not good enough when you keep losing. Opposing teams know that if they play somewhere between poor and average, they will have every chance of taking at least a point from us.

"keep losing"

We've lost two of the last how many? Eight? And one of those (against wolves) was massively unlucky down to ten men and still having shots cleared off the line by an outstanding wolves defense.

We've lost 14 times already, and looking at our fixtures we are probably going to lose quite a few of our remaining 10 games. I would guess we are going to end the season with between 18 & 20 defeats - not good for a team that were considered one of the promotion favourites. While some defeats were unlucky, you can argue that we were fortunate in some of the games we won as well.

Lost 14 out of the last eight?! that's quite a feat...

Did'nt say we lost 14 of the last 8. I said we've lost 14 times already. If you take a look at the league table you will see under the column marked L the number 14.

No, I'm blaming both of them. Ole started the ball rolling, and Slade has made only a slight improvement.

And boy when you say "slight" even that may be a bit of an exaggeration! The fool had the chance to impress on Saturday by fielding an unbeaten side and rewarding the MOM at Rotherham, but no he was too dim to see that and he bottled it. He deserves all he gets!

14 league defeats, 10 of them under Slade. Not even a slight improvement.
