Do you respect the dictator now?

Sun Mar 01, 2015 11:17 pm

Easy question realy, brighton home few years ago made me sick but our fans are so fickle and some will bend over backwards just to get their way what ever. (Different argument)

I didn't see him saturday walking round stadium (having a pint)but the reception he got is pathetic and embarresing from what I've seen on tv Internet after getting home.

I see him as our landlord. He's the owner. I'll pay my dues to him whilst he looks after the house and maintains its upkeep but nothing more than that. I won't be worshipping the ground he walks on, shaking his hand or sending him cringeworthy love in poems entitled 50 Shades of Blue in the Echo. He's the club owner, not a messiah. Do I back him? I back the club as a collective. Whether he's a part of that collective group really doesn't bother me.

Do I respect a guy who has put his hand in his pocket to support the club and save us from liquidation? Yes

Do I like him? Not particularly

Got to give the guy some respect, wore a blue shirt Saturday, could of easily just wore his suit or even a red top, and took the time to walk around the pitch to chat to fans etc.
You gotta respect him for that. Couldn't of been easy for him.

You sir have just written ( what i view as) post of the season! If we could all see it this way then we would be amazing.

Thank you!

Not sure the word respect is the right word, I respect the fact he has enough ebout him to realise teh rebrand was wrong and reversed it and even more so for him even coming back to a game in a blue top.

I also respect the way he has paid the bills and charged no interest and at some point written off interest he was due although im not sure the management of money has been very well.

But to be honest I dont think we need to respect him, he is finally making the cut backs needed and I am now happy with the way the club is heading, in blue, with a bluebird badge and going forward looking to live within our means. I will just let him get on with it :bluescarf:

No, he didnt change us back blue because we wanted it otheriwse it would have changed seasons ago it was for his own personal gain imo
People hanging out the back of him now will be calling him all the names under the sun like past owners when he goes and wants his money back as he aint going to convert it :laughing6:

I can't believe more people have voted yes than no. When are people going to learn that our dictator only makes decisions to benefit himself, and himself only?

Re: Do you respect the dictator now?

I don't get it.
He strips us of our identity, totally disrespects our heritage and traditions, splits our fan base resulting in threats and violence, then for his own financial gain gives it back nearly 3 years later and people give him respect and clap him.

UNF@#KINGBELIEVABLE!

Annis....Besides the above, I was brought up to believe respect works both ways and Tan certainly has no respect for Cardiff City fans. He's demonstrated that on numerous occasions.

Re: Do you respect the dictator now?

Tue Mar 03, 2015 1:59 pm

The decision to return us to blue was nothing but financially expedient. I can't think of a reason to respect tan, and I can't believe how much fans have fallen for such a basic PR stunt such as his walkabout on saturday. Embarassing :bluescarf:

Why are some on here so easily embarrassed just because some people hold a different opinion? Bless them!

Get your point but at least our traditions are restored and more important we have traditions left to fight for remember without vinnies money we would have gone to the wall long ago now and wouldn't have any traditions left to fight for

I for one Will always be grateful for that

And yeah its obvious that he's changed back to blue more for his benefit than ours but we are back he's finally starting to cut costs which is needed and all I ask of my fellow fans is that we understand that this is how we get rid of him eventually it may well take 3 more seasons but we need to get used to the fact it's lower end championship stuff while he recoups his cash through player slades and parachute payments in order to reduce his debt to a level at which we are viable for sale

This is he only way as he wont take a £170m hit that's for sure he may write off £30m later on to get out but not yet

I honestly urge everyone to renew support the team and help that cash hit his pocket quicker the less season tickets and revenue the longer he'll be around

I've never been convinced that we would have gone to the wall without Tan's money and there's been more than a few rumours regards the "Red or dead" being a loud of bollocks.

I do agree 100% with the rest of your post and I for one will be renewing. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

It's a fact that without tg and tans first 6 million guarantee in the high court, the judge and hmrc were going to liquidate us there and then ,we were 20 mins away from it

Wez they are facts that people will argue now but I don't remember people being so calm about at the time.

Luke, that is my take on the situation and why (red/blue issue excepted) I am not totally anti-Tan

For family reasons, I know irrefutably what the situation was at the time and how close we were to going to the wall and out of existence. I am also aware of what TG, Tan (and Ridsdale with his 'movement' of the season ticket money) did to ensure the club survived and what Tan has done since to ensure we are nowhere near going down that route again any time soon

No one has to 'like' the guy. He is certainly 'different', but so were several of our previous Owners and I cannot help but feel that some amongst our support are against him because he runs a closed door policy, where certain past Owners were very 'public' in their running of our club and acceptance of fans views on how things should be done

Certainly, there should be a far better understanding of what he has positively achieved that will ensure we have a club to support when he eventually departs. The debt is his and he is unlikely to leave with it hanging over his head or affecting his credibility. I believe he is too proud and too self-conscious to allow that to happen

Totally agree mate, brilliant post.

Re: Do you respect the dictator now?

Tue Mar 03, 2015 9:33 pm

Well written post Sven, that redresses the balance.
Much of the Tan hate relates to the fact that he and MM could not get on. Whatever the rights or wrongs of the breakdown in their relationship it was the club who lost out! As you say he is a bit different but there are many worse Chairmen. (E.g.Sam Hamman!)
Some of the extreme anti Tan rhetoric is a well off target and people would do well to remember how near to the "cliff edge" our club were.

Common knowledge that we were less than an hour away from being wound up

And I'm almost positive tannis looking to recoup what he can to sell up

He will take a 20/30m hit IMO and end his affiliation with the club when and if that is the case in future probably stating that he's doing it for the love of the club so he doesn't lose face etc

He will never profit from this club even if that was his original plan that will not happen now unless we somehow go up on a shoe string budget next year

Asset strip and eventual sale my guess is in two seasons time once parachute payments have dried up and there is nothing other than the stadium to sell
