" I was proud of the team "

Sun Mar 01, 2015 12:56 pm

We went down but we went down fighting and we were ridiculously unlucky not to get something out of the game. We were the better team playing some good football, then Wolves hit us with a sucker punch on the counter attack. They had a lucky break with the ball running for them.

We didn't get any lucky breaks like that and when we were on top in the second half, the referee let us down. It was a clear second yellow for their right back and if the referee had sent him off, Whittingham probably wouldn't have lost his head to get sent off himself.

Still, we threw the kitchen sink at them and I thought we actually looked stronger without Whittingham on the pitch. I thought the midfield orchestrated better and it will be interesting to see how we do the next couple of games without Whittingham in the team.

It's a defeat, but a lot of positives can be taken. For the first time in a long time, I was happy every player battled and gave their all. That's all we can ask for and more performances like that will see us picking up wins and climbing the table.

Whitts only out for one game - two yellows.

Then he'll be straight back in even if we win 25-0 at Rothrham on Tuesday with Whitts replacement scorig all 25.

Just goes to show why football is such a good subject to debate. I saw it completely differently. I agree we looked better when we went down to 10 men, but I thought we looked half decent for around 20 minutes or so, and apart from that fairly clueless. Personally, I thought the result was just about fair, but on another day with a little bit of luck going our way, we may have squeezed a draw out of it. We can't keep saying our lack of points and league position is down to bad luck.

Well said. Thought we were better team but didn't deservevthe win as we are not good enough in final 3rd. Ref was a disgrace. Not only for the 2nd yellow incident with Wolves player but the way he let the keeper get away with time wasting and the 2 free kicks he gave when their keeper fell over in the box when balls were pumped in. I can't understand how Morrison is not dropped. He is worst player.

floodgates opened after the Wigan win? Slade has to go, too much positivity just fuels a lot of people's belief that this is the worst Cardiff team in decades, and for the money they get paid now, in my opinion the worst ever

Totally agree, their keeper kept going down and time wasted at every opportunity, he clearly learnt from Fergie during his time at Man Utd. Morrison makes basic, glaring errors every game but somehow manages to keep his place in the team. The only thing that must be keeping him in is the fact he's a huge threat from set pieces. At half time I would have taken Morrison off, put Ralls on at left back, switched Peltier to right back and moved Connolly into the middle.

We played to our strength when we brought on Revell and just rammed long ball after long ball down Wolves throat for the final 20 mins. They dropped deep to counter the problem as Jones and Revell with basic balls were causing them big big problem.

Our squad is full of 6 foot plus strikers with no pace, why don't we just do a Wimbledon, Sheff united Cambridge ect and just play that way for the remaining games. Its crap parks stuff, but everyone looks excited by it......

we've locked horns over the past 2 years over the rebrand but this post shows that your not one to hold a grudge and you can see that the team are improving and your hatred for the rebrand hadn't clouded your judgment about the team ,I hope some on here take a leaf out of your book ,I think some people forget how bad were were for years

I agree with you in some aspects but we didn't create enough chances to be classed as "dominating" Wolves. They always looked dangerous on the counter. I'm not really bothered about Whitts- we all know he will be back on Saturday whatever the result on Tuesday.

I have to agree.A month ago the players would have given up when down to 10 men.Not so yesterday.

Plain to see it's clouding a lot of people's judgement and anyone that days different needs to look around properly

People have been on his back even before he was announced and little had changed

Fact is we are going through the toughest period since tan took over

No holds barred in terms of spending to being told you have to lose £12m this season on wages and probably even more in the summer

Simple fact is expectations have to drop in line with that

Mine already have knowing if we want tan gone long term this is the only way balance the books let him take out the parachute payments and reduce his debt make us look more viable for a buyer and maybe just maybe within 3 more seasons he'll be gone

That's my hope and prayer

If it takes a a manager that's probably only just about good enough to keep us up for that to happen then it's fine by me I watched 15 years of crap football another 5 won't hurt me

Fair enough, but this season will see the lowest points haul (PL excepted) in the past 15 years, 15 years during which we have risen from the depths of the 4th tier (and pretty close to dropping out of that one!), and almost every season (bar this one and last) we have been promoted or been close to it. The last 15 years have been a a hell of a lot more exciting than the previous 35!!

Totally agree with the original post.

Plus on a personal level I actually enjoyed watching the game as I saw a lot of good points in the game, although we never looked like scoring. We need stability in terms of personnel and finances so let get behind our club.

I can see where your coming from but can't agree with most of this at all. Talking of lucky breaks & us not having any is clutching at straws. We were hit by a clever counter, something that we're unable to do & from that moment I knew we wouldn't be able to score.
Wolves took control & it was way too easy for them & they didn't need to step up at all. They were comfortable.
When Whitts went off, yes we looked a bit more dangerous as we just humped it up.
The two half chances we had came from a long punt of a free kick from a City player then an even longer hoof of a free kick by Marshall.
Yes, we looked a little better & we had a little bit more of a fight but still outplayed in general & under Slade - this season & next - we will be going nowhere. Not down (probably) & certainly not up.

We are making positive steps in the right direction and like I said after the Wolves game, we will pick up wins and climb the table with similar performances. Well done to Slade, Trollope, the players and everyone else who contributed to tonights win! :ayatollah:
