Ruud Gullit on Welshman strikers Honesty

Sun Mar 01, 2015 11:59 am

I watched match of the day re run this morning in disbelief and shock

I think even Gary Lineker was taken back with Rudd's opinion that Sam Vokes (Burnley)should have "gone down" for a penalty decision instead of trying to go for the header, having quite clearly been held by the Swansea defender.

They showed an aftermatch interview with Sam Vokes, where he say's that he has never been the type of player to do that sort of thing.

Then "Alan Shearer" who at first seem to disagree with Rudd Gullit, changed his tune to agree that Vokes should have gone down.

Surely, it is up to the referee and linesmen to watch the game more closely and not, as Rudd Gulliet was arguing, Up to the player to go down to show the referee what had happened.

F--cking prima dona cheats what's spoiling the game - ever since the Italians/Spanish started it all off in the 70,s

Time for video Referee ???

Your thoughts?

Sam Vokes should of gone down after being man-handled. Gullit and other ex-pros are only explaining why players dive.

No fall to the ground = No Pen. Ref seen the hands all over Vokes but Vokes never made the ref make the decision.

Be interesting to see if Burnley get relegated by the solitary 1 point or not

I think Vokes should of flopped as he didn't have a decent chance of scoring. If he gets a game for Wales, getting fouled in the box, flops, gets a penalty, put away by Bale oooh yeah! :laughing6: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Had a similar thing yesterday with jones. Guy had his hands all over him as he was running into the box. Most of the canton were urging Kenwynne to go down but he wouldn't. This is the season for poor refereeing tho. Acriss all the british leagues.

What he was saying is that generally refs won't give a pen unless a player goes down. It's not right but it's the current state of the game that has crept in over the years due to players being allowed to cheat and refs having their every decision scrutnised in microscopic detail. It should have been a pen but refs want the decision to be easy. Staying on your feet puts doubt in their minds.

The refs are eliminating a position, the big lad up front.....We used to moan like hell at Jays amount of time on the deck, but look how many pens he got compared to Jones.

Little un's like Dwight Gale fall over at the smallest of touches but a big lad get man handled and nothing is done.

The ref wrecked yesterdays game and I hope his assessment reflects that fact and he does a few conference games as a punishment
