ENDING OF AN ERA.

Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:44 am

:old: :old: :old: :old:
Yesterday I ended an era of 61 Years of watching my beloved Cardiff City AFC, I had already decided to not renew my season ticket for next season because now I am retired I cannot afford to pay out £400 Pounds for a ticket, just one of those things, I am no different to lots of other people, it was my intention to still go to certain matches, but after yesterday and the last couple of months since Slade and Young in charge I have lost my desire not only to watch the City, but in many ways football in general, it just does'nt do it for me anymore. Gone are the days when I used to leave early for the match to watch a game over the park in Sloper Rd on my way to the ground, even that's gone now I haven't seen a game played on there for ages

To listen to Mr Slade describe our recent performances as any kind of improvement is laughable, if we accept yesterday in the last fifteen minutes as being on top and we deserved a goal then it just goes to show how low our standards have sunk, what I saw out there yesterday was a disorganised, leaderless side with little or no confidence and that must start behind the scenes of the football club. Russell Slade is the manager of Cardiff City and Scot Young is his assistant, if they can't do,sorry no they can't do their jobs because they are not capable of doing it, both are out of their depth, in my all my years of watching City I never seen such an inept pair as these two, no plan B, I don't even think they have a plan A,I Don't think for one moment the players go on the pitch and think to themselves that I couldn't care less how I or the team plays but I think they are so low on confidence, they are deflated before they start.
Mr Tan you have admitted you have made a mistake in your decision to implement the rebrand and changed us back to our natural colours and badge, could you please take it a step further and get rid of these two clowns that run the football side of our club, you can see the response you will get judging by the reaction you had yesterday, it may not bring me back, but.we need to bring young fans into the fold otherwise I fear that there won't be anyone like myself who will follow them for 60 odd years.
Thank you for the good times I have had over the years, I don't think this is a Devore we might see each other again but not in the near future.

After 61years of supporting city, the club should give you a free season ticket for life mate. That's some service to our club you've put in, and no doubt our club will be worse off without real fans like yourself turning up. Football today is all about sky TV packages, sponserships, and fancy adverts. Its essentially becoming a spectator sport in this country. The real fans like yourself are being shat on. Sad to see you calling it a day jefe, I hope whatever you do to fill your time, you enjoy yourself mate :ayatollah:

Quite a common theme across football in general I reckon. The game is so different now to how it was 15/20 years ago, and it hasn't changed for the better in my opinion. I can take it or leave it these days and generally tend to leave it unless there's a decent away trip involved.

Thank you Mr mogreeze for your good wishes.
Just to add, I watched the English clubs in Europe this week and I was disappointed as to how far we are behind the other Europian clubs, why we think that the Premier League is the best in the world I don't know, this is a league purely for television,Sky have created a monster with over inflated transfer fees, inflated wages and overpaid actors, We all know from a business point of view it is the place to be, but I didn't like it, the standard of refereeing was diabolical how can we go all season and not have penalty till near the end and Liverpool have ten. Not for me.

EL JEFE, it's always disappointing to hear of long-serving supporters of any sport who are so disillusioned with what they are seeing week in and week out, but I truly know where you are coming from

Been going down there many many years myself and I can honestly say I haven't seen the club as rudderless as they are now from this management team (even in the darkest 'basement' days, when at least we had a good mix of local and other (mainly Scottish) players who would run through walls for their manager and fans!

I hope you find some way of continuing your support. I feel things can only get better...but to do so, Tan MUST get rid of Slade and the former 'cult hero' who has far too much influence and sits so ineptly next to him in the dugout!

I wish you all the best, fella. It's supporters like you (long-serving and appreciative of the club's true history) that we can least afford to lose! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

EL JEFE, I feel you speak for many long serving fans as to how you feel, which is really sad.

Over the past couple of seasons the pride & the passion have been either driven out, or just simply evaporated from our club, & I truly feel that's its going to take massive, progressive changes & improvements at our club, both on, & more importantly off the pitch, before we get anything near the "feel good" factor that would be required in order for the "masses" to return to our beloved club.

This is something I'm beginning to believe is a real problem now.

Over the last couple of decades since the premier money has come in I put down the bias shown to the likes of Man U and Liverpool was in my paranoia. After last seasons episode in the premier for us and specially the Liverpool game I am now thinking there is something in this.

It just makes me wonder if the top knobs deliberately turn a blind eye to any suspicious moves in favour of the bigger clubs like Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal because without them in the premier the attraction to watch and attract the money would be gone. It also makes me wonder if this spirit of cheating makes its way to the referees department.

I expect most will accuse me of being paranoid. I expect no one outside of CCFC to agree with me except some Jacks believe it or not. I would except some of us to believe I just might have a point.

A quick point relating to no local football being played on Sloper Road, my Wife's cousins from Ecuador watch their local team Liga de Quito, they have the youngsters playing on fields outside the stadium before matches, attracts big crowds and exposes the youngsters to pressure on their matchdays.

The saddest part of the OP is the fact that true fans are being priced out by the greed of the modern game.

The Scott Young factor has already been addressed with Trollope coming in and although I'm not a slade fan yesterday was much better than the dire performances being churned out a few weeks ago. Hopefully this means Trollope is having the right effect.

I agree about the state of football in general though. Cardiff City were accused of selling our souls re the rebrand. The bigger truth is that English football itself sold its soul the day the PL was created. Purely designed by the big clubs to make themselves richer, as pointed out it has merely inflated transfer fees and wages whilst driving a huge wedge between the clubs and their fans. The TV deals should mean ticket prices should be driven down to almost a token amount, yet what club will use the huge hike in revenue to do this? I can only see fan disillusionment increasing over time, but then the clubs won't care as they will simply play more games abroad to compensate.
