Whitts out....blessing in disguise?

You will recall that Whitts was benched for much of the second half of our Championship winning side.Perhaps if Adeyemi or Ralls come in for a few games the team may start creating chances at long last. Time will tell.

Not for Russell - he hasn't stopped crying since it happened.

Suspension or injury was the only way Whitts was going to be left out of a Cardiff side managed by Slade.

I don't think so, none of our back up central midfielders are as good as him and unless the midfield push further upfield they won't get any decent service to the strikers.

I tend to disagree. I wouldnt call players of the quality of Adeyemi and Ralls "back ups"! They just happen to have been overlooked by a poor manager. I think you do them a disservice and I would expect more creativity not less with these in the team. Moreover, an experiment with four midfielders of O'Keefe Adeyemi Ralls and Gunnarsson could allow us enough possession to dominate. With maybe two from Kennedy Doyle or Jones upfront I think we already have the makings of a better team.

Being has he played every minute in the league so far, he probably needed a game off anyhow as he's no spring chicken. Wether the team do any better without him, we will find out at Rotherham, gives any player who's comes into the team to replace him a good chance to show their credentials for 1st team action. Big whitts fan, but his petulance should be punished by Slade. He is an experienced pro and shouldn't lose his head like he did yesterday. I would drop him on saturday as well, and if we win keep the winning side

I hope Slade goes for Ralls in his real position

Bring in Ralls. Tidy player. Just needs a few games in his best position - left centre midfield. He's always likely to score as well.

I'd have whitts out for a bit. He is too deep now doesn't offer fk all in support of front 2. Playing so deep gunna has to cover but then looks exposed cos whitts is sitting in as sweeper.

Can't fault him over years but he really needs to have a sit down

After DJ went, why does this happen as the season wears on, he sits deeper and deeper and deeper. He was annoying me yesterday as he is not pushing forward and supporting the front 2.

I know you're a big Whittingham fan so I particularly respect your unbiased comments. Good post.

Adeyemi passing is not good enough to create, Ralls is decent enough at keeping possession. I would hate to see our midfield like that. No pace, no width, no creativity. McAleny looks more suited to a number 10 role than Kennedy. Thought he did well centrally away at Sheffield Wednesday especially considering the pitch

We have no pace, nor width nor creativity now! Without Wittingham there will surely be more pace at least. But a midfield four as I have suggested is likely to win more possession and I really think you are being unfair on both Adeyemi and Ralls; they are sure to inject more dynamism into our play. I take your point with McAleny and Kennedy but feel your namesake would have beem perfect for a match without Whittingham. We were silly to let him go!
