12pts from our last 45pts available SHOCKING![]()
Cardiff City 0 Wolves 1
Crowd 21,165 But actual attendance approx 16,000 incl 2,000 Wolves fans.
Marshall, Connolly, Morrison, Ecuele Manga, Peltier, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Kennedy, Noone, Doyle, Jones.
Moore, Adeyemi, Ralls, McAleny, O’Keefe, Macheda, Revell.
Hopes were high before this game, as Cardiff were now unbeaten in their last 5 League games and our defence was looking good after only conceding 2 goals in those 5 games![]()
But what was concerning many fans was City had only gained 12pts from the last 42pts available, so today Slade had to show that the win at relegation bound Wigan was not a one off.
Wolves was never going to be an easy game as they had fire power, but we had a mean defence.I have to say this match I really was looking forward to![]()
Sadly the game never lived up to the expectations, which were not helped by a poor Ref.
My worry is, I just dont see any imagination and very little creative football and our best football came when we went down to 10 men after Whittingham was sent off late in the second half.
City started lively and the first 10 minutes were City's![]()
On the 12th minute the whole ground including the Wolves fans gave a minute applause for the tragic death of the 12 year old Cardiff boy who died yesterday RIP![]()

As the game went on Wolves started to take control and were far to quick and strong for City.
In the 25th minute Noone lost the ball and Wolves tore open our defence to score with a simple shot 1 nil Wolves![]()
From then on the first half was all Wolves, they could of been 2 up in the 42nd minute but thankfully missed an open goal![]()
The first half Wolves deserved to go in 1 nil up.
The second half Wolves continued to be in control. The Atmosphere from the City crowd was awful.
Doyle went off in the 62nd minute to be replaced by McAleny.
64th minute Marshall was called in to make a great save.
Whittingham was sent of in the deservedly for 2 yellow cards, but minutes earlier a Wolves player without a doubt should of been sent off and wasnt, good management by Kenny Jacket as he quickly substituted him.
City were down to 10 men now and you would of thought it was Wolves who were as for the first time City really looked like they meant business as for the last 15 minutes of the game it was attack after attack by by City. We were now playing good football and could of equalised, but as they say to little to late.
Over all in my opinion Wolves deserved their away win and City looked ordinary.
I will repeat again Russell Slade is not the answer and has no imagination. We battled, puffed and huffed for most of the match, that wont win you matches.

Wolves weren't allowed to shift up the gears like they have in previous matches. It was hardly comfortable for them or like they were a few up and could stay in first gear. Yes we lost, but I think if people can accept what we currently are and the huge transition in personnel then they would see things differently. Today I saw not for the first time of late players who want to play for us and who care. I seen better ball retention again. I also seen a solid defence. A lot more positives than a month ago, I am a glass half full and I can see we lack creativity but also foundations to build on.

bluebird58 wrote:It was much better today and clearly an improvement on what was going on a few weeks ago. We didn't panic when we went one down, and Wolves packed players behind the ball to stop us playing or get much possession. We didn't panic when we went down to 10 men either. We have played worse this season and won.
I''m not getting carried away here - the team is clearly a work in progress. But I'm more encouraged than I was after the Brighton game. We now look a solid mid table team, rather than relegation material.
We know we are missing a midfield leader and creator, but there was a bit of hope. Contrary to your opinion, I felt that we didn't LET Wolves get out of second gear. Their goal came from a slight error by Connolly and a failure by Marshall to get out to the ball before the cross went over. I know we gave them 2 opportunities from individual mistakes, but we could have easily got a goal or 2 back ourselves.
As I said before, there is much work to be done. But I think your dislike of Russell Slade is clouding your judgement a little Annis! There are lots of people who are willing him to fail, and would be really disappointed if we went on a long winning streak (unlikely, I know!).

At least the players looked as if they were putting in a bit of an effort this week, but sadly we are lacking in quality to compete with the better sides in this division. I said a while back that I was concerned as to why no other teams showed much interest in Doyle, and I am not convinced that he can be a prolific goal scorer at this level. Looking at our remaining fixtures, I think we can get another 10 to 12 points, which should be more than enough to ensure we are still playing championship football for another year at least. A slight improvement today, but nowhere near good enough.
