' WILL THE FLOODGATES OPEN ? '

Tue Feb 24, 2015 10:01 pm

Russell Slade said recently he believed that once we win one game plenty more will follow, I hope that proves to be correct.

Five games unbeaten now, three clean sheets included in that run and the long awaited away win has finally come.

Ok so the football is not brilliant and Wigan's home record is absolutley awful but our away record is equally as bad so I thought we would probably draw at the DW Stadium but to come away with three points is all that matters. I honestly thought that City were in a relegation fight but on the back of this win and other results below us I am confident that those relegation fears have disappeared.

I would have preferred not to be facing a team like Wolves, who are in free scoring form, on Saturday but if City can hold their own at the CCS this weekend then it could be that a top half finish is on the cards, I don't see us finishing within 10 points of the play offs but if we could break into the top ten then it will be a massive improvement on where I at least thought we would be just a few games ago.

An away win is massive whoever the opposition, it does sound like luck was on our side tonight as apparently tv replays will show that both disallowed goals for Wigan were in fact onside but I don't care as we have got all three points.

Great goal from Gunnarsson and even in the final minute City were looking for that second goal, a defeat tonight could have knocked the stuffing out of squad and sent City fans into meltdown so on that score it is a big victory.

I am praising the result, the squad and the manager for the win though my doubts over Slade are still there and to win me over is going to take more than this result but let's savour the win tonight and see if the 'floodgates will open' now we got one win under our belt in a long time.

We are becoming more difficult to beat and hopefully now we will see more attacking and creativity going forward to give us more to cheer about.

Hopefully we will start to play with a bit more freedom, the shackles should be off now & the pressure lifted.
Millwall 10 points behind, I would hope & expect to see some better football on a more regular basis

When your as poor as we have been the first thing you need to become is hard to beat or at least harder than it has been facing us. I think we have slowly achieved this with Bruno back albeit against lesser opposition, and we nearly beat Blackburn. I don't think the floodgates will open as we don't play that style of football, but I am more optimistic since the Blackburn game and look forward to wolves at the ccs when we will have more of an idea if we can indeed kick on as the pressure is off. Well done city and gunners for stepping up to it :bluescarf:

The Blackburn draw really should have been a win for City and it was the best we have played in a long time, same as you I am looking forward to the Wolves game, not confident but hopeful which is far more optimistic than I have been recently

This was a match I expected us to win (I forecast a 1-0 win a couple of days back)because in my mind Blackpool & Wigan are already more or less gone. An important 3 points that gives us some breathing space, but nothing more. From the reports earlier, it appears that Wigan may have been unlucky but so have we in some of our previous games. I have been around too long to think that one win means we have turned the corner, and I am not sure if we can hope to get more than 4 or 5 points between now and the end of March. If we can finish where we are now, we will have done ok. I have a feeling we will end the season somewhere around 15th or 16th in the table.

I accidently copied 'Will The Floodgates Open?' and then accidently opened up Xhamster. Whilst the search results did not yield the football debate I was expecting I must say that I am rather pleased with the results.

Seriously though, success breeds success. I'm a big believer in that.

Is it April fools day ?

Flood gates open - 40% possession against a very poor Wigan team and they had 2 good goals ruled out

If you think we have turned the corner that will never happen with Slade in charge

Our defensive record has improved so much and that's in no doubt part to Manga and Marshall returning. Saturday will be a huge test for us with Wolves enjoying a purple patch. If we win on Saturday then I think we will go on a bit of a run. I'm not confident we will. I can see another draw at best... and, to be honest, I'd take a draw!

With the pressure slightly off let's look forward to a good match which I believe could go either way. Either way of three to be precise.

mmm Barcelona had 75% against average team last week and they lost! :laughing6:

1st goal was offside player onside when ball kicked, but ball hit his own player on way thru he was then in offside position and that made him offside! 2nd one inconclusive because camera bit slow showing where player was when ball kicked?

I have you know i won the champions league with the mighty bluebirds within 4 seasons on Football Manager, and also took Newport County to the prem in 5 seasons so i resent that, the other Slade on the other hand gives us Slade's a worse name than the band ever could ;)
