' Wigan v Cardiff City: Bluebirds directors to sit among fans after declining invitation to directors' box '
Steve Borley and Ken Choo will sit among the away fans at Wigan tonight after the club confirmed two board members had 'respectfully declined' an invitation to the directors' box
Cardiff City directors Steve Borley and Ken Choo will sit among the away fans at Wigan tonight after the decision to boycott the directors' box of former manager Malky Mackay's new club.
The move comes after the club confirmed to WalesOnline that two board members had ‘respectfully declined’ an invitation to be guests in the Latics boardroom at the DW Stadium.
If that is true'then well done gentlemen.
Cardiff also said chairman Mehmet Dalman was never scheduled to attend the clash at all.
It comes amid a Football Association (FA) investigation into ex-Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay - now in charge at Wigan - and former head of recruitment Iain Moody over the exchange of alleged racist, homophobic and sexist messages.
Cardiff sent a dossier to the Association cataloguing the accusations back in August.
' The roller coaster story of Malky Mackay's Cardiff City reign '
Wigan appointed Mackay as their new boss despite the ongoing probe in November and owner Dave Whelan was fined £50,000 for making subsequent comments about Jewish and Chinese people as he sought to defend the appointment.#
He recently served a six-week ban from all football-related activity though an FA disciplinary commission said it was "satisfied" Whelan "is not a racist" and did not intend to cause offence.
Speaking ahead of tonight's match, Mackay - sacked from Cardiff after an acrimonious, public fallout with Tan in December 2013 - yesterday said it was 'just another game' as he came up against his former club.
He said: "Managers get sacked, that happens the world over.
"I've got some terrific memories and there's some really good people who work there.
"It's nothing other than three points, it's just another game.”
The Scot admitted sending offensive messages in an interview to Sky Sports back in August and apologised, adding that he is not racist, sexist, homophobic or anti-Semitic.
