Latics face Cardiff City at the DW Stadium on Tuesday, an important game with time fast running out for our survival, three points and nothing else will do, without a home win since August though this could be a tough ask.
Cardiff are in the middle of a bad run and will be looking to get back on track, they haven't won in Wigan since 1997 and they've never won at the DW so again a tough task for Russell Slade's men.
In the build up to the game both managers have been speaking to the media, let's take a look at what they've had to say:
Latics boss Malky Mackay - 'I had terrific times at Cardiff, and I'm really proud to have been associated with some fantastic staff down there who have worked tirelessly for that football club for many years.
'But, it's nothing other than three points, it's just another game'
'Right now we're doing nothing other than focusing and concentrating on ourselves. It's the only way that we're going to get out of what we're in right now.'
Speaking about the DW Stadium pitch, which was in terrible condition following Fridays game with Charlton Mackay continued - 'It's not in the best condition I've ever seen a pitch if I'm being kind.
'It's been cutting up a lot and the rain on Friday night didn't help.
'The heavy foot fall on it over Friday and Saturday has caused the surface to suffer, but it's another thing we're just going to have to get on with and deal with.
'At the end of the game the middle part of the pitch was in horrendous state and the deluge in the second half certainly didn't help. We've got to be very careful as to where we try and play the ball against Cardiff; there are certain areas of the pitch we're going to have to be mindful of.'
'The grounds staff have worked incredibly hard to get the surface playable for the game, they've worked pretty much non-stop since Friday night and they deserve a lot of credit for dealing with what has become a tough pitch to maintain, especially through a very wet period of weather.'
Cardiff boss Russell Slade - 'Our job is to do everything we can to win [at Wigan] and hopefully that will help us get a run going
'We are making life difficult for the opposition right now and staying strong at the back, but we must get the win we need.'
'There is an honesty and a good attitude about the performances. We're getting in some good crosses and are creating chances. Overall, it was frustrating that we didn't come away with the three points [from Huddersfield].
'The goals aren't coming for us just now, but if we keep playing the way we are then the wins will come. I felt positive going into the Huddersfield match and I feel positive ahead of Tuesday's game at Wigan. We are making progress.'
