Malky : Cardiff fans are sensational

Former boss Malky speaks about the Bluebirds for the first time since 'textgate' and says 'we came together for a once in 50 year top flight journey.'

Malky Mackay insists he has fond memories of Cardiff City and says he has nothing to prove to the fans who once adored him but have since turned.

The former Bluebirds boss, who faces his former club for the first time since leaving tomorrow night, said: “The fans are sensational... we all came together to do something that hadn't been done for fifty years."

Mackay presided over the club's first ever Premier League promotion and lead them out at Wembley for a Carling Cup final against Liverpool during his roller coaster ride in South Wales.

But he left after falling out with owner Vincent Tan amid a bitter racism row that led the manager to apologise in May 2014.

As he prepares his struggling team to face Russell Slade's Bluebirds, he said: "It's never about proving a point, absolutely not."

"I've been in football a long time and I've had various football clubs - Queen's Park, Celtic, Norwich, West Ham, Watford, Cardiff - no, (it's) absolutely not (about proving a point).

"Managers get sacked, that happens the world over.

"I've got some terrific memories and there's some really good people who work there.

"I enjoyed my time down there and was very proud of what a lot of people did at that point."

"You make friends and you have special moments at every club you're at.

“Footballers, coaches and managers do throughout their career. They are the things you hold on to.

"It's nothing other than three points, it's just another game.”

But the three points would be vital for both clubs as they bid to avoid the drop and Mackay's Latics look in real trouble after Friday night's 3-0 home defeat against Charlton.

He said: "Right now we're doing nothing other than focusing and concentrating on ourselves. It's the only way that we're going to get out of what we're in right now."

Or Tan manipulated the gullible fans to turn against Malky. Depends on your opinion really, but apart from a few texts calling an Asian a chink (which wasn't right, but Kim and Kim's agent don't seem to have a problem with that as they know what Malky is really like and they had no problem joining his team again), Malky hasn't done anything wrong.

Let's face it, Tan has scraped the barrel using his wealth and contacts to dig up everything he can to nail Malky, but we have yet to hear anything. An agent even capitalised on Tan's desperation by feeding him duff information for 50k.

If I was at Wigan tomorrow, I would be giving Malky a clap to thank him for the fantastic job he did at our club and the great memories he gave us.

Not everyone feels the same. I will hopefully be at Wigan and I'll be saving my applause for CCFC.

Not a chance in hell!!!!!

My team need three points more than Malky needs respect!!

any chance to wind up the home fans or make the home team uncomfortable should be taken

We are bluebirds not malkys minions!!!

Get a grip on yourselves for the sake of YOUR TEAM!!!!

malky played us and riped what should have been a season of great pride away from us and poss we will never get back
the club is broken and he played a big part in it
Tan is to blame also thought i would say that cos the tan haters will have no different but its 50/50 for me

the fans have there part to play and untill we can forget/forgive and get on there will be problems

Our fans constantly disagree and argue with each other. It's ridiculous! We should stand together as we all love Cardiff City. Would love nothing more to see our fans united as one but don't think that will ever happen.

Malkay i will not shed a tear for him , after what he he did. Tan did the right thing in sacking him.

How did Malky rip us apart ? Someone else did all of the ripping.

He gave us some great memories and should be applauded for that.

Always a tricky one when it comes to Malky. I can't condone his actions, if true, regarding inappropriate comments, end of.

However, I do feel had things been different, he could have continued to do a great job at Cardiff. I know he is supposed to be entirely responsible for hiring Cornelius, etc, etc, etc. if we look back though, was he totally in control of things? Is Slade doing just as he pleases by selling some asset players?

I am willing to show him respect at this point all things considered, but obviously, it's 3 points for The Bluebirds first!! :bluescarf:

It infuriates me how many people idolize this guy just because he got us up.

The football was crap, the league was piss poor and he was given plenty of money to bring in the likes of Bellamy but let's forget the struggles we had in the Premier league, the wasted millions spent on crap players, the racist 'banter' and the fact that he is probably the worst manager Wigan have ever employed in their history.

People seem to want to push the 'but he would have kept us up' if only that horrible Tan hadn't sacked him stick. How can they possibly know this, were we near the top when he was sacked, no we weren't, but hey we were never in the bottom three though were we! No we weren't but let's conveniently forget how close we were to the bottom three and where we were heading before Ole came along and finished the job.

The best manager Cardiff have ever had my arse and shame on anyone who thinks any form of racist 'banter' is acceptable

The football was crap as bad as now? Really?, the league was piss poor and he was given plenty of money let's be realistic here: Money is needed to get PL promotion to bring in the likes of Bellamy but let's forget the struggles we had in the Premier league many clubs struggle in the PL which is one of the hardest environments in the world , the wasted millions spent on crap players he also spent wisely before this , the racist 'banter' nothing racist is "banter". It is totally unacceptable (see my previous posts)and the fact that he is probably the worst manager Wigan have ever employed in their history Judged after how long???.

People seem to want to push the 'but he would have kept us up' if only that horrible Tan hadn't sacked him stick. How can they possibly know this and how can you know otherwise?? , were we near the top when he was sacked, no we weren't, but hey we were never in the bottom three though were we! No we weren't but let's conveniently forget how close we were to the bottom three and where we were heading before Ole came along and spent loads more money and still presided over demotionfinished the job.

The best manager Cardiff have ever had my arse and shame on anyone who thinks any form of racist 'banter' is acceptable

It’s claimed Atkin, of Pro Star Management, made an approach to Cardiff under the pseudonym Jack Anonymous offering to help the club defend Mackay’s £7million employment claim with ‘two significant pieces of information’ regarding his alleged ‘serious misconduct’.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/articl ... ackay.html

I'm not the brightest spark in the world, but someone approached the club under the pseudonym 'Jack Anonymous' for 50k and they cannot smell a rat  I hope this came out of his own pocket and not the clubs

And this is the set-up that is in charge of moving the club forward :( won't happen until he leaves

whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I think it does for most of us - no winners, just losers, and we, the fans, are losing the most.

Stockholm syndrome at its finest. Siding with a man that has made the club THE laughing stock in world football for the past few years.

Have a backbone, don't just side with the person that holds the power/money.

We were sensational, now we're a divided, broken mess.

MM will get applause from me then I hope we gub them. After that, I wish him well.

He was brought here to take us up and he did. He spent money, like most do. He bought duds, like many have. That's modern day football. It still happens.

At the end of the day, he succeeded in what he was brought in to do. The reasons surrounding his departure mean nothing to me. He's admitted his mistakes and he's moved on. Shame others can't.

yup, totally agree but he always was well media trained, thats why his interviews were so boring.

The undertone of tolerating blatant racism from our fans is nothign short of disgraceful.
