" WIGAN ARE THERE FOR THE TAKING "

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=155170 :thumbright:

Wigan have not won at home since August with their last 13 home results seeing 6 draws and 7 losses. They have lost 6 out of their last 7 at the DW Stadium. In the 13 games they had scored 8 & conceded 18.

Wigan are there for the taking, booed off last Friday night when they crashed 0-3 at home to mid-table Charlton.

This is one Slade knows he has to target for three points and the Cardiff manager insisted: “I don’t think we will be distracted because Malky Mackay is Wigan manager.

“It’s about being focused and ready. We are professional people and we are intent on winning a difficult away match.

“Our job is to do everything we can to win and hopefully that will help us get a run going. We are making it difficult for the opposition at the moment and being strong at the back, but we must get the win we need.”

Whisper this quietly, but signs are there that better times could be around the corner.

Cardiff are becoming more difficult to beat with the outstanding Bruno Manga masterminding things from the back at Huddersfield.

He was clearly missed while away on Africa Cup of Nations duty and his return at the centre of Cardiff’s defence has coincided with the team looking more resolute.

Not that anyone should be getting too carried away with a 0-0 draw against a pretty ordinary Huddersfield outfit.

This was a dour struggle, one Cardiff just about edged in terms of having the better chances.

Terriers goalkeeper Alex Smithies denied Eoin Doyle with a wonder stop on the half-hour, adjusting his body in mid-air to tip over the Cardiff striker’s header.

Slade also believes Huddersfield’s Tommy Smith was lucky not to be sent off in first-half injury time for a foul on Kenwyne Jones, brought down on the edge of the box following a swift counter by the Bluebirds.

I'll take a loss up there if it hastens Slades departure & I can never remember saying that before!

I can see a city win, just a gut feeling. Let's get the win rather than be sliding towards relegation with a new manager. That can wait :bluescarf:

Sensible answer mate. My fear is that if Slade scrapes a win & a few more draws then Tan will give him a chance next season whereas I believe that would be disastrous.

Not as disastrous as a hammering off Wigan.
