Did Russell Slade get his tactics right?

WHAT HAPPENED... IN A NUTSHELL?
Cardiff City battled for their point from a game featuring few moments of quality.
Russell Slade thought his team should have been playing against 10-men in the second half and felt they would have been, had they been at home.
As it was, the hosts avoided a red card when Tommy Smith felled Kenwyne Jones right on the edge of the box moments before the half time whistle blew.
The other great chances fell to Eoin Doyle and Peter Whittingham but in reality neither side threatened much.
DID RUSSELL SLADE GET HIS TACTICS RIGHT?
Let’s face it, Cardiff are a work in progress and they are currently adopting a very direct style which isn’t often easy on the eye.
But it was almost enough to win all three points in West Yorkshire and there were plenty of positive signs.
Slade was happy his side created the best chances of an average game, but they simply don’t possess the cutting edge of a team who could compete at the top end of the Championship.
The Bluebirds boss surprised a few by hauling starlet Matt Kennedy off with 15 minutes to go, even though he was creating more than Craig Noone on the other side.
And when Doyle was replaced by Alex Revell late on, it looked as though the visitors had run out of ideas.
But defensively they looked solid and if they continue to play this way they will at least be hard to beat.
Huddersfield manager, Chris Powell with Cardiff manager, Russell Slade.
TURNING POINT
Scott Malone going off injured after 25 minutes.
The Bluebirds had struggled to settle defensively early on but the introduction of Matt Connolly at right back saw Lee Peltier move to left back and Russell Slade’s back four, also featuring the excellent Bruno Manga and Sean Morrison, grew in confidence for the remainder of the match.
It looks likely the back four that finished at Huddersfield will start at Wigan on Tuesday.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
When Kenwyne Jones was hacked down by Tommy Smith on the brink of half time, the 500 travelling Cardiff City’s fans yelled for a penalty and a red card.
On reflection, a penalty it certainly wasn’t but a game changing red card it could and maybe should have been.
According to Bluebirds boss Slade, the issue revolved around whether Jones was in control of the ball but argued it’s difficult to say because his star striker was being clattered at the time. Incidentally Terriers boss Chris Powell insisted referee Mark Heywood got the decision spot on. The debate will rage on.

Connolly is emergency cover at right-back ... no more than this. He's been exposed time after time when playing right-back - he simply doesn't have the pace; he's much better suited to playing centre-back.
Peltier should keep his position on the right and either Fabio or John brought in on the left.

Does Slade ever get his tactics right.?.....not in my opinion

Don't know why Uncle Fester is worrying about a Huddersfield player not getting sent off because his record of playing against 10 men is terrible. Twice this season, Reading at Home and Charlton away and on both occasions we have lost the 2nd half of these games.
Another example of RS inability to turn manage the team and match tactics effectively.

Personally I don't see it too bad yesterday with the biggest problem being lack of scoring . Kennedy seems to be settling in and capable of creativity. McAleny should of come on for noone but Kennedy has not played much so maybe more of a fitness issue next few games is do or die

Lack of fitness for Kennedy or not, it should still have been Noone who came off. An apparently unfit Kennedy did far more promising work than Noone has in 10 weeks.
